You shouldn't be so shocked, RadioGal. The station itself is designed to be very minimal as far as talking, air checks, and jock creativity. The pairing of Jay and Dave Hanson was absolutely disasterous, as Jay had no sense of timing or delivery, and insisted on squeezing in unfunny jokes and references to "rock" and "beer" whenever he could, even at the expense of talking over his co-host.
However, the flies on the wall at 93 Rock have insisted that things sound so read, because they are. The jocks are merely reading liner notes off Word documents, with the idea that less talking is better.
As far as Lex & Terry are concerned, it was a bad situation for them to come into to begin with. Stern left, and a lot of those listeners just tuned out. Paul & Young Ron moved from Zeta to Big, taking their audience with them. And Lex & Terry were left to grab a market share that wasn't interested in them to begin with.
Bubba The Love Sponge could work here, because of the lack of good, quality programming on the air, for the M 18-34 demo. People listen to P&YR, because they have no other option. BTLS could change that, or at least give them an opportunity for decision.
