Station actually is sounding better as they have expanded the playlist. More of a Top 40 Rock sound. Any word on Bubba the love Sponge is AM drive?

NOT HAPPENING. BTLS is tied up with negotiations with his satellite radio deal and won't be allowed to hit terrestrial radio in more markets until that is firmed up.

KILL THESE RUMORS, and with the economy gone to sh** I wouldn't expect to see BTLS making any moves anytime soon anyway. Can you imagine the marketing money they'd have to put behind that move.

And does anyone really think BTLS can win in Miami like in Tampa and Jacksonville? They are completely different markets. Doesn't anyone remember the fiasco known as Lex and Terry on Zeta?

I'd assume he won't be coming, but I wouldn't be surprised as Cox Radio has made some other really dumb moves, including their lack of new music. Growing up in N. Florida I can assure you BTLS is not as white-trashy as L&T, but still enough to turn people off here.

I'm also shocked they don't do more with jay, that guy is really talented and funny. I saw him at the improv in miami a few months ago and he did better than some of the national comedians. I can hear his frustration during the show. Where did he come from?

You shouldn't be so shocked, RadioGal. The station itself is designed to be very minimal as far as talking, air checks, and jock creativity. The pairing of Jay and Dave Hanson was absolutely disasterous, as Jay had no sense of timing or delivery, and insisted on squeezing in unfunny jokes and references to "rock" and "beer" whenever he could, even at the expense of talking over his co-host.

However, the flies on the wall at 93 Rock have insisted that things sound so read, because they are. The jocks are merely reading liner notes off Word documents, with the idea that less talking is better.

As far as Lex & Terry are concerned, it was a bad situation for them to come into to begin with. Stern left, and a lot of those listeners just tuned out. Paul & Young Ron moved from Zeta to Big, taking their audience with them. And Lex & Terry were left to grab a market share that wasn't interested in them to begin with.

Bubba The Love Sponge could work here, because of the lack of good, quality programming on the air, for the M 18-34 demo. People listen to P&YR, because they have no other option. BTLS could change that, or at least give them an opportunity for decision.

Jay and Dave were bad! I felt for Jay and you must have him confused with Dave. All Dave talked about was wrestling, beer and degraded women. He's the the guy from New York who can't finish a sentence. Watch jay do stand up comedy and you'll see what I mean. He used to talk more, but he must of got in trouble and Cox put their foot down.

Paul and Ron while boring are comfortable to the market. BTLS is entertaining and I think he'd have an impact, but people would get tired of his sex talk fast! If jay doesn't get picked up in the market or moved to another daypart, I bet he'll keep doing stand up or he'll get picked up some where else.

That's one of the aspects of radio that bothers me. Some of these local guys are on the air for so long, that their audience simply becomes comfortable listening to them, regardless of actual show quality. It becomes a part of the listeners' daily routine, and a lot of these shows become complacent and uninteresting. I think this of shows like the MJ Morning Show in Tampa, Jim Philips in Orlando, Scott and Todd in New York, and John and Ken here in Los Angeles.

I don't know what he discusses on his terrestrial radio show after 7:00 am (I'm at work by then) but in the first hour all I have heard him discuss was Mark Lunsford, the Hogan situation, and the elections. It's certainly not the Bubba of old.
