If Rome is to remain on 540 long term, it will be outside of the normal Fox Sports Radio package, as FSR is going with a show hosted my Jay Mohr starting somewhere around Jan 2nd.

If you look at www.jimromestations.com you'll see that he retained a pretty high percentage of his previous affiliates. 550 WGR in Buffalo, 850 WKNR in Cleveland, 1260 in Erie, 920 in Fairmont, WV all continuing with the show (and WEIR in Weirton, which I thought was running an all-comedy format...).

He moved in markets like Tampa, where he will be on a CBS station running the network 24/7, and Orlando, where he will be on a Cumulus-owned FM from Melbourne and an independent startup on 810 in the immediate metro. Basically both are situations where CBS is taking his show away from Clear Channel stations. But his revenue would drop too far if his syndication went from the large number of affiliates he had to the 70 or so that the CBS/ Cumulus partnership will provide. It's always about the money.

So despite Rome's website listings, 540 and New Castle's 1280 were running Jay Mohr from Fox today.

It took 540 something like 3 to 4 months to get Rome on the air after they announced 1/1/12 that he would be on, so who knows....

I believe 970 is only running 1250 watts STA, or at least it was.

I hear them power-up at sunrise every day, so that must be night power only.
I did notice that their night signal has an awful lot of holes in it lately (and it
was never great).

They are operating with parameters at variance and/or reduced power so it's hard to determine just
what they may be running at any given moment. What sounds like a "power up" could very well be
a change in directional pattern. They do have STA for 1250 watts ND, but the repair work may well
be completed by now. I agree on the nighttime signal.

While driving on state rt. 7 south from Steubenville to Wheeling you can barely hear it.

Doesn't it protect Ashtabula? The null is right in that direction and it looks Ohio 7 is some collateral damage there. That's not to mention the generally poor ground conductivity anyway. I didn't even KDKA stop my scan at a rest area a bit south of Washington.

Yes, it protects Ashtabula. 970 Pittsburgh, 970 Buffalo, and increased facilities for 970 Ashtabula
were all granted concurrently in January 1947.
