94.5 FM Format Flip in Birmingham!

TALLRED said:
I'm in a mass state of Confusion. After Today's Jox simulcast, they're back to the country programming. All this is driving me nuts. ;D
Hope none of you think I'm going nuts, because it sure does look like it.

Travis

It's the same programming 94.5 has been using since they dropped the hot AC format on July 4. It is crazy. But at least the stunting is accomplishing what they desire: lots of attention. Don't you know the folks over at Citadel Birmingham are getting a real kick out of reading all these posts about us trying to guess which format 94.5 will eventually have... :D

I'm back in the mood for radio again. After listening to them almost for an hour, and watching King of The Hill on FOX, I've come to realize they've been playing the same commercials for the past hour or so, no music, just the same ole crap. Who knows, they just might be preparing to make the final flip. ???

Maybe the constant switch is the format, taking more of an artistic/scientific approach instead of one geared toward one certain subset of radio listeners.

FM 94.5, Schizophrenia Radio!

but not so far off that the station could be regarded as Prometheus bringing fire to humanity.

take a minute away from the board and look up old prometheus and bob episodes on youtube...good times

those are sooooooooooooooo funny along with the "Action League Now" episodes which used to come on during the same time. :D

We must be all getting bored on waiting for the "big transformation" of 94.5. After all, it'll be two weeks tomorrow since the format crashed and burned. Anyone think the new format might appear tomorrow? If it doesn't, we might have to continue resorting to posts about old cartoon shows. ;)

Seems to me they would telegraph the punch, if for no other reason than to send all us media types scurrying to our radios to listen for the grandiose 15 minute over produced format kick-off and ceremonial reading of the format set-up.

Think the original Dallas "Wolf" launch or the more recent Wolf in San Francisco (since they may fool us all and really GO country). Endless spank bank material for the production set...

i drove into birmingham yesterday and flitted around town for a couple of hours. my radio danced between 103.7, 100.5 and 94.5.

the entire couple of hours 94.5 was dead air. the transmitter was pumping but there was NO sounds.

way to stunt.

I used to listen to them when I lived south of Nashville in the late 80s when they were I-95. Maybe they should just go back to that and be a rock-leaning rapless chr. Always thought it was a big mistake when they flipped to Hot AC and AC but what they're doing now is insane! Why don't they just become a "Jack FM" (even satellite version) until they make up their minds. B'ham could use and adult hits station. The do NOT need four frickin' country stations!!!! :-\ I hope they don't settle on country.

Here is my idea for 94.5. They should rebroadcast Fox 6. since they will be gone from 87.7 after the DTV switch in '09. That may sound stupid, but a lot of people listen to it especially during news time. Just think The new Fox 94.5.

Oooh..... Salivation at the thought of selling local spots on the radio during American Idol..... ;)

It was about this time two weeks ago, we were all awaiting the new format change for 94.5 FM. Two weeks later, we're almost driven to the point of insanity (I'm already there ;D). I propose that since citadel's long wait is being fueled by our anticipcation for this to be over, we just log off and see what else we can find on the radio to talk about. When we least expect it, the new format will be awaiting on the other side (ain't I just full of it).

two weeks down, maybe not too many more to go ::)

This looooooooooooooooooooong period of stunting must be the status-quo for Citadel. Several weeks went by when Citadel was stunting on Dallas' "Twister" before they unvelied the "Platinum" oldies/soft AC format there. I guess they've aborted their original plans of revealing details this week about WYSF's new format, considering there's only one day remaining in this week. :-\

This morning on Reg's Coffee House, Reg was saying that starting next week his show will be on 100.5.
Wouldn't you guess that means they're going to switch 100.5 also?
Hopefully they'll put new formats on both stations...I know some people like sports talk, but talk radio is best left to AM in my opinion...
I still pine for the days of Z100.5...
