94.5 testing on their new stick

Who is this station owned by? Also are their Dj's voicetracking from other areas as well? Spider Harrison...is that the same guy that is on Sirius Satellite Radio on Hits 1?

Let's see if 94.5 holds true to their first two days' programming. 105.9 and 97.1 played deep cuts when they first changed to classic rock format. Within a few weeks the same 300 familiar, recognizable, overplayed songs became predictable norm.

The music's straight off of the Hippie Radio format... this is what they play all of the time. You're not hearing the music chosen especially for a start-up. The one beef I've always had with Hippie Radio is that while it is a good oldies format, it just simply isn't Hippie Radio. While I've occasionally streamed it before the format came to town and have listened quite a bit the past couple of days, I have yet to hear a single Dead song, no Hendrix, no Great Society, no Quicksilver Messenger Service, no Flying Burrito Brothers, no New Riders of the Purple Sage, no It's A Beautiful Day, and not even once have I heard "The Pusher" or the "I Feel Like I'm Fixin' to Die Rag"! Hippie Radio, indeed!

I think they are using the term "Hippie Radio" instead of "OLDIES" so listeners won't get the idea it's the same "Pretty Woman,Respect,My Girl" rinse and repeat format..They do seem to have a little larger playlist than the standard 300 songs..But by branding themselves with a certain time period in history, they hope to conjure up memories of that entire rock era. But as we've been told repeatedly that demo is not "sellable" I wonder where the revenue will come from...I'm in Gallatin, so I'll check the signal as I leave tomorrow morning and head into town..then listen as I "HEAD EAST" ;)...and there is a reason...and see how far they get. I usually listen to Vol State until I go under the Alexandria overpass...so weird..88.5 is strong until I go under the bridge..then it's gone just like a switch was flipped off..

I am one of "them old hippies" they are marketing to. So far I love it. I am in Donelson and they are coming in very clearly on my CCrane Radio. I do not even have to extend the antenna to hear them.

I haven't listened on air yet..just on the web site stream..are they programming locally at the station..or taking the feed that I hear online ?? I can't see local jocks being live there for $$$$ reasons...just curious

Hey Delta, could You post a link to that stream site for 94.5. I have not listened yet either so I will hold back any comments. Those of You satellite radio fans, one of the Pioneers of free form rock radio, Jim Ladd, debuts his live show on Sirius XM on Deep Tracks ch 27 Monday feb 13 at 6PM Nash time.

It's on page one of this thread...I guess I should have been more clear..it's a stream from Hippie Radio .com not the station itself..i was wondering if 94.5 is just taking their stream and jocks..or have local talent in studio..

Ok thanks Delta. I am listening now. I guess this will be indicative of what the Nashville stream sounds like. I am here in trendy East Nashville area and I can barely hear the 94.5 signal. As some others have posted, I hope the station does not fall into that 300 (whatever) song or so trap! Listening to Chicago: Beginnings now. Someone said they want to hear Frank Zappa, CJ and the Fish and that sort of thing. LOL Good luck, I'd be shocked if the station came anywhere close to that. lol So far, not bad I must say.

I have to ingest a tad of shameless self promotion here...my little toy station has been playing everything that has been mentioned and plenty more..pulling from a 5000 plus song playlist for the last 2 1/2 years..according to the stats from the former server I was using until Jan ..last year I had over 7000 people log in and listen to some , if not all of the stream I run live on Friday nights in 2011...virtually every song from '63 though '83...and selected tunes up though the early '90's...from top 40,rock,R&B charts..crossovers..now..if I could just get those people to send me ten bucks each.... ;D

Although I'm in the Jackson area and can only hear the stream the format sounds good to me. I'm really surprised at how fast all this happened with the tower move and format change. I knew that when it was sold that the CCM format was probably gone, but it was no big loss because of it already being covered by the Fish stations and WAY-FM, which was always better to me. I'll try to pick it up on my next Nashville trip.

I've listened to your show Delta. Good stuff indeed! I drove around trendy East Nashville and I heard 94.5 pretty well.

Call me if you need a fill-in..........I'll do my best Bob Perry impersonation..

Somebody's been watching the Grammys (or maybe listening to the aforementioned Delta stream) and not minding the board, 'cause there's been no audio on 94.5 for a while tonight. The signal's on, but nobody's home.

Heard Chris Lucky < to have a job and be a live human air personality in this market> actually come clean and say they'll be off the air a few hours over the next few days as they finish tweaking. Hope it doesn't hurt the signal. Impressive that they're trying to actually sound excited to be in radio. A certain other format better step it up. And I don't mean by playing songs six times in a row.

Thanks for the compliments guys as I really program the show from the "THIRD PERSON" ie: what it sounds like coming from their speakers..not mine. Even had Carl P. listening for a bit last week.. I envision listeners sitting there and how the next song is gonna hit them. I hope 94.5 makes it..certainly a need for that format in town..but..getting ratings and $$$$ may be another story..leaving for work shortly gonna see if they are on at 3AM this morning...and how strong they are.....

I was planning on continuing to listen at work today, as again, good energy thus far, but I was surprised to see that I can't get it to come in in the office in Berry Hill. I can get bits of WGGC out of Bowling Green and some of WFFH from West of town, but no 94.5, even after stretching and moving the antenna all over the place. The signal has been decent all over town up to Hendersonville. The only spot I've been in locally that it struggled on the road was on 40 between Donelson and OHB and 65 near the Brentwood OHB exit.
