94.7 Updates

I kind of apologize for polluting this thread with my thoughts, but it really does amaze me we are this far in to this over the last few months, and have no real leaks or credible info from anywhere on the future. Some intern, some graphic artist, some label guy, some marketing guy, some potential dj, someone at this point usually says something (stupid) via social media or a friend. Kudos to Cumulus for keep this so well under wraps by now.
How do you know they haven't?

;D

Country wouldn't get above a 1.5-2.0 in my opinion.
I think it could fair a bit better than that, I'm just not as convinced it would bill. Either way, if this simulcast with RXP calls goes much beyond tomorrow I'll be 95% convinced it's a ruse and going country.

Because I would have found it by now! ;D

The processing on 94.7 continues to sound much better than 95.5. I hope they don't mess it up, it's pretty much perfect right now. In fact they should tune up 95.5 to sound as good, it sounds dead by comparison.

How do you know I have? Who watches the watchmen?
I did not say you had. I merely suggested they may have. With all the speculation, from all the different angles, somebody may have slipped something in.

It reminds me of an "Elvis Cruise" in Miami, one time. There were young Elvises, old Elvises, white Elvises, black Elvises. Male Elvises, female Elvises. Elvises of all kinds, shapes, and sizes.

My point is: there were so many Elvises, the Real Elvis could have been walking around and he would have lost the look-alike contest.

I understand, I'm just inserting some humor to the mix. I agree with you. We've probably heard/seen the answer, just can't verify it. At this point I could write a Master's thesis on why it should be either one.

I missed Race's tweet this morning...looking more and more like a ruse... Race Taylor ‏@RaceTaylor
Just played our Legal ID and it had a bunch of other letters in it! You can also catch @955WPLJradio on 94.7FM WRXP.

Doubt it will be AAA.

I love the format but they'd be mixing it with an established noncomm (FUV) and a well branded suburban station (the Peak) for a niche format.

I'm trying to think of other AAAs Cumulus runs - I've come up with "Kruz 106.7" in Green Bay and "107 one" in Ann Arbor, MI. 107 was AAA before Cumulus bought it - "Kruz" was an experiment modeled on a Santa Cruz station that sold off to EMF, and they ditched the format on the other station they tried it on, leaving Green Bay as the last one.

The "Kruz" format reminds me of a hipper 105.1 The Buzz..I enjoyed that station. I think it'd tread way too close to PLJ's territory to do anything similar on 94.7.

Major market stations that do country lean towards suburban females, so country wouldn't be my first choice in a cluster with PLJ either.

My personal hope is for alt rock, but.. who knows?

You forgot about Cumulus' KFOG in SF, one of the longest-lasting commercial AAA's, and programmed by Dennis Constantine. Besides WQKL in Ann Arbor, their other longtime college-town AAA is KBXR in Columbia MO, consistently the top rock station in that market.

As of 3:10, the signal is VERY weak compared to yesterday, with the RDS as WRXP with "Rock", but I can't recieve the HD. By the way, this is from Brooklyn. A LOT OF STATIC, so it sounds like I'm in the distant to fringe area as RadioLocator likes to say. I don't even think there is HD in the signal as others pointed out they could be trying from a different transmitter. We will see what will happen today. Whoever has Facebook can voice out their opinions through this link: http://www.facebook.com/ScottandToddBigShow/posts/441461312587118.

AAA is labor intensive and would be an odd choice for cumulus - a company that does not like people. Until FAN got the FM simulcast, I thought it was syndicated sports was a slam dunk, i still think that's where it ends up, but who knows.

I hope it is exactly the same as the last incarnation of WRXP, "new rock". That amount of new alternative in heavy rotation has not been heard in the NYC region since WRGX-X107 in Westchester in the early 90s, WLIR in 2000 and the short period of time WAXQ was alternative in 1994.

Someone will probably mention K-Rock or WNEW's flirtation with Alternative but their selections from the charts were quite limited. They would just pick a couple chart toppers and beat the shit of them. That is why they failed miserably. Where as RXP 2.0 played a substantial amount of currents.

I live in West Orange (just about a mile from the WFME transmitter), so I obviously get a great signal. My Insignia HD radio is showing 5/5 bars but no HD indicator, so I think it's safe to say the HD is turned off right now. I happened to drive by their antenna farm earlier this morning. There are several towers there, one of which is noticeably lower than the other, so maybe they are using the lower tower right now. But according to Radio-Locator, Brooklyn is within the city grade contour.

I know the coverage of WRXP, I always got WFME/WRXP well except today, and the HD always locked until today. They hay have just dropped a little power, thats it. Who knows whats happening there? Also, I'm starting again to hear slight changes happening as the audio seems to change. Its a wait and see game at this point I guess.

Are you still trying to put up a stream from 94.7(see other topic)?

The carrier just dropped for a few seconds, then a second or two after coming back up the processing changed. So they're clearly working on it right now.

EDIT: I see the HD icon is on now so I guess it was my radio locking onto the HD, not necessarily a change to the processing.

Wonder what they are using for processing. PLJ changed recently to an Omnia.11 Don't know if RXP also using this box right now?

John Foxx, current host just said at 4:11 about 94.7, "NJ, NY, CT, maybe, we'll try to work on it" and said Scott and Todd are "crowned" the owners. Hmm???

Is it better now that they threw whatever switch that was a few minutes ago?

It is sounding better to me. Earlier the audio had a bit of crackling to it.
