94.7 Updates

They seem ready to me with the audio no longer having issues being in HD. They gotta be ready come Midnight or even 6 AM tomorrow or 10 AM tomorrow after Scott & Todd

Hopefully, when they do debut the new format I would be able to listen. Where I live, the side of the building where my apartment is faces away from NJ. All of my radios, except for the home stereo, have issues receiving the station. It's only in the car or anytime I go outside is when I get a decent reception. Reception is better in Brooklyn, as there aren't too many tall building to interfere with the signal.

I see them doing a format no one has even thought of them doing.
And I see them doing a format that has recently been successful for them in another market.

94.7 was officially ID'd as WRXP and WRXP HD1 at midnight. The WFME call is gone from the frequency.
I did not have the opportunity to check, but perhaps the call for 106.3 Mt. Kisco is now WFME, instead of WDVY.

Talk about a set of worn out call letters much like KFRC in San Francisco, these are it! Can't they come up with some that are new and refreshing? And while they're at it, how about a new and refreshing format and music too!

Re: WFME Format Flip

While I think Rock is a possability, I doubt it will be strictly Alternative. A triple A format could be possible. A regular rock format is also possible. It could be a combination of the 3. The original WRXP was Triple A leaning? The second WRXP was close to Alternative but not strictly. Here I think if they choose the rock persuasion there are several options within rock. Their target will likely be WDHA in a WRXP scenerio.

In all honesty, I would LOVE for 94.7 to go EDM. 8)

And how much revenue would the station take in from and edm format ?

Zero and that's why it won't happen

I realize its a pipe dream so I was being sarcastic. It doesn't matter what's on 94.7 it's not going to convince me to stop listening to my TuneIn Radio app. ;D

Cumulus can launch both alternative and country in NYC. Besides WRXP 94.7, they also own WFAS 103.9 which has a construction permit to build on a tower in the Bronx. Country would make more sense on 94.7 given that it reaches a more rural population and 103.9, while weak, will let them put alternative on a NYC signal that can hopefully capture some of the good ratings that New Rock 101.9 had.

The original WRXP was Triple-A and did not do that well. The last WRXP was new alternative right off the charts in heavy rotation and it did well.

Scott and Todd have been talking about the it quite a bit this morning. They were joking around about the delay and what format to put on 94.7

Yes, I also heard them this morning with their 5 second delay. Also, I see they have reduced their power or it is just the fog, but I am hearing 94.7 with static, and a lot of it and the RDS AND HD doesn't work.

We have a few smaller outlets for this already like 107.1 the Peak. AAA is niche-y. Don't see all out AAA, and not under RXP flag.
A regular rock format is also possible.
Yeah, but as others have pointed out, while much smaller there's already DHA in the TSA. You need females to make it work in NY and that's not going to happen that way.
It could be a combination of the 3.
Absolutely not. That's exactly what doesn't work. See the failure of Krock.

Yes and the RXP 1.0 was not good and failed. The second was working. Well. And yes it was Alternative with a dash of indie; exactly the only way the format will work in the big picture.

Doesn't fog usually help FM signals propogate farther, rather than make them weaker?

Not in the area where the stations are short-spaced.
