Wow. they just tweeted "And you thought we were going Alternative? " Kind of a dick thing to say.

That is NOT the real twitter feed!

REAL: https://twitter.com/nashfm947

FAKE: https://twitter.com/947nashfm

Actually, that is on the official Twitter feed. It's the one being followed by a lot of Cumulus brass.

https://twitter.com/947nashfm

Wrong. It was on their website. http://www.nashfm947.com/ look at share and discover.

They must have two Twitter feeds. The one I posted was on their site earlier.

Your mistaken. Sorry.

We're both right. https://twitter.com/947nashfm was linked on their website earlier and was taken down, along with the Facebook link. They do have two feeds. Not sure why they switched.

The word is "you're" as in "you are".

On a serious note, which is something in the back of my mind.

I remember back in 1996, when WKTU launched on 103.5, a woman who was very upset that country music left the dial. She had started her own campaign and everyone met at a country music club in New Hyde Park. I actually went to that club, not as a dance music fan gloating (I was 29 at that time so I still had a bit of that youthful "cockiness"), but to at least show some support that country music would come back on the dial, but perhaps on a suburban station.

I spoke at the meeting and while the country fans were visibly upset, they also knew that perhaps what I had said would come to fruition. And in a few months later it did, when a country format did briefly appear on 94.3 there.

I'm wondering what that woman is feeling, now that this station launched which (not counting the WYNY 107.1 trimulcast) is the first time in 16 years that New York City proper has a country station.

Okay....now HIRE RAY ROSSI!!! :)

In all the frency of this switch I've got to tell you that Harold Camping is back on the air! Speaking a bit slower but back on the air at Family Radio! Let's see what the ppm say in about six months to a year on the country format.

Re: Nash FM Twitter fakes

They have a link to it, yes- but it looks like someone forgot to actually make it! Looks as if a non-employee got to it first judging by how it looks and the lack of a logo. We'll see.

I think the positioning as America's Country Station is smart. Nash-FM may take some massaging, but it'll work. Thus far, the music rotation shows breadth, with the biggest Country hits and re-currents and "new classics" that most soccer mom's and dads will recognize. The on-line stream sounds surprisingly good too.
Yes, it is good to hear older artists, such as Brooks & Dunn, and Garth Brooks. Hopefully this is an indication they won't be playing just recent songs.

That is kind of nasty. But.....maybe another of their stations in NYC will be going Alternative. 103.9 maybe?

That would really round out the cluster nicely, and might explain why they grabbed the WRXP calls.

I'm not really up on what's happening with the planned 103.9 transmitter move, though. Anyone? (Scott Fybush?)

Re: Nash FM Twitter fakes

No, you're not getting it. Re-read my second post and then go look at @NashFm947. Someone for to the account they wanted first.

Re: Nash FM Twitter fakes

Er, someone GOT to the account they wanted first. Sorry for typo.

That's the one thing that I thought was a mistake so far. I think for country to work in NYC, it should be very current focused and programmed like a CHR (high spins on mostly currents/recurrents). I think today's more pop, trendy, country artists will be much more accessible than older artists. The music and image has changed a lot (even since 90s artists like Brooks and Dunn and G Brooks). I think it needs to be centered on artists like Taylor Swift, Eric Church, etc)

Congrats to the Country fans - you finally got your station! Even though I was rooting for Alternative, it's still great to have a little more diversity on the NYC dial.

That is kind of nasty.
slap in the face of alternative fans.

I agree. I am a fan of country and alternative but was excited when the took the WRXP calls indicating they would be alternative. Why use the WRXP calls and then openly mock the alternative fans upon the switch. As far as I am concerned 94.7 does not exist and I will continue to download country and alternative from Itunes. Actually that goes for all other Cumulus stations also. Screw them.

Flying from MSP-LGA, I was listening to 94.7 starting at 9:30 eastern. I heard WIAD from DC then WDSD mixing in. Strangely enough I could hear WPST mixing with WRVQ. So I missed hearing 94.7 WRXP launch.

Hopefully I brought the WNSH calls with me from Minnesota.
