I was just watching UFO's on the National Geographic Channel, they interviewed Art Bell from his studios. The interesting thing was it showed a building with 4 or 5 towers which looked like AM to me. Him and his wife had KNYE shirts on, when I looked at the website, it was an FM station and the pictures showed one large FM tower. I used to listen to Art here in Philadelphia on a local station but he is no longer on the air here, was his show on many stations via satellite. What is the story?? is he still on radio in Nevada and why did they show AM towers, if indeed KNYE is an FM outlet...Thanks for the help..

The show, Coast To Coast AM is still on the air from 10p-2a pacific, but is now hosted by George Noory. Art Bell is semi-retired, and hosts Coast To Coast pretty much when he feels like it on weekends, alternating with Ian Punnett. Always a treat when Art pops on.

The towers you see are actually at Bell's house, and they are not AM towers, they are (if memory serves) part of his (very extensive) antenna array for his CB. He used to have pics of the antenna array on his website when he regularly hosted C2C.

KNYE is an FM outlet in Pahrump, NV run by Bell himself. It is an Adult Contemporary-Oldies-Classic Rock station...a true variety station, let's say. I heard it this past summer on a drive from Reno to Las Vegas - sounded good and put out a surprisingly good singal considering it is a class A FM. It runs C2C at night, as it should :)

More likely than not, the studio you saw was the one at his house, not at his FM radio station. He used that home studio to broadcast C2C, and still uses it when he feels like doing his occasional shows. Based in that same studio is his CB station which utilizes the extensive antenna array.

Thanks for the very informative info, when he was interviewed, it looked like some really extensive studios, with plenty of equipment, it probably was in his home as you stated. I have to tune in C2C tonight and check out the new host, I wonder if its the same type of topics like Art hosted.

You're welcome. I think you'll like George.
