95.5 The Game report card

Oh yeah, I sure had it, but it only took me out of commission for a month and a half (my show's 349th episode aired on May 4 last year, and then #350 was heard on June 21). I was at Riverside for 11 days and then Dodd Hall Therapy Center for 6. I was told that I recovered from it as quickly as anyone could have, because I promptly drove myself out to the hospital as soon as I knew something weird was going on and then was fairly quickly diagnosed. Get well soon, Torg! I know that having it is no fun, and actually pretty scary.

That's scary with what jakej and The Torg have/is suffering from. Glad you healed rather quickly jakej, and get well soon Torg!

The Torg had this to say last Tuesday on the Save "The Torg" Facebook page.

Cat is oiut of the bag peeps. As soon as I am healthy and out of this hospital I will be joining the QFM morning show. Torg and Elliott on 96.3 FM. We have a lot of great things planned. I cant wait to start. Finally out of the ICU so thats a good start to recovery.

Second treatment yesterday. WOW just crushed me like the first. 3 more left. It just destroyed me. I will beat this I am lucky it didnt spread to my chest and face.

I was never in the ICU when I had Guillain-Barre. The first night I spent in the Brain & Stroke Unit because they initially thought I had suffered a stroke, but then the spinal tap the next morning definitively proved that it was G-B. They then moved me to Neurology and I received four straight nights of some kind of special medicine through an IV after also getting the stuff the night before (on a hunch the doctors had then that it might not be a stroke after all but rather G-B). But there was nothing "crushing" about this treatment.
I know that if someone thinks he or she can beat Guillain-Barre on his or her own and delays going in for treatment, then the "first choice" medicine that I received is no longer available to them; it'll be too late for it to do any good. So maybe having to go through with whatever the next option is becomes more difficult. If the disorder spreads to one's lungs and begins to affect his or her breathing, then it can sometimes be fatal. Scott McKenzie of "San Francisco (Be Sure To Wear Flowers In Your Hair)" fame succumbed to Guillain-Barre last August.

The websites for 95.5 The Game in Columbus and 105.5 The Game in Fresno are identical. The show lineup listed on the Columbus website is even listed in Pacific Time, instead of Eastern.

Not only are they identical, but the Fresno page has Archie's show listed in their lineup. And both website's lineups are still in Pacific time. Does Wilks not know how to have different sports-format websites s for different parts of the country?

Wilks has a hard enough time keeping their GM position filled in Columbus, let alone trying to figure out how to build a website. ;D

Torg mentioned on Twitter (confirmed?) that he and Elliott are the new morning show on QFM96 starting Monday. Why would Wilks not bring him back to do afternoons on 95.5?? Do they think he'll be killed that badly by Common Man? Yuck. I've barely listened to 95.5 yet outside Rome, and now I can't see changing my habits too much.

The plan was to have to have Torg pair up with Archie after his "sports" non-compete is up (August?). Torg would slide from Torg and Elliot show over to the sports talker after he's off the air every morning on Q. Searching for other local talent to replace the awful CBS product.

Matt Finkes (co-host with Archie in the AM) announced yesterday via social media that "The Game" will air Browns games next Fall/Winter.

Nice! Maybe CC will move the Bengals to 105.7 and clear all the preseason games here, too. The Bengals need to be off that garbage signal at 1230 yesterday, and there's no reason preseason games aren't aired here, either.

Bengals were on 610 before moving to 1230. Why were they moved to 1230 in the first place?

I would think it was to bolster the sports station's live game lineup. But in typical CC fashion, whatever game was bumped from 1230 - either Reds or Bengals - wasn't switched to another station. There have been NFL Sundays in the past where the Reds have been on 1230 (and 700, of course) and the Bengals haven't aired anywhere, even on 610. That leaves Columbus listeners out in the cold since no other Bengals affiliate is powerful enough to easily be heard in this area if WLW isn't carrying the game.

That's not good, considering most of the time the Browns get picked over the Bengals on TV. So you're really out in the cold. I'd think Clear Channel would realize WLW's signal is strong in Columbus, and don't need the Reds on the Columbus affiliate if another sports team is playing (Bengals, Ohio Bobcats).

With the Browns going to 95.5 possibly ... Could Clear Channel shift the Bengals to 105.7?

Maybe the reason the Bengals have gotten the short straw in regards to radio coverage is that their radio ratings are lower than the Browns? Also, I would think Browns fans would NOT like this move - the 95.5 signal is very choppy in Northern Franklin County, whereas 105.7 is crystal clear.
I am good as long as the Steelers maintain their affiliation in Central Ohio...

I think that's what they should do, so CC won't do it. If you want to keep the NFL on that frequency, this is the way to do it.
At least the Bengals/Browns TV balance is a lot better than it used to be. WBNS can't please everybody, and I think they usually do a good job, unlike WCMH way back when which was loathe to ever show the Bengals.
