95.7 The Wolf Is Here!

Mike Moore is a Music Director compared to Scott....

What's with the personal attacks here?! Name calling is useless. Last I checked we were discussing the relative merits of how a station was programmed and who started what when.

The Wolf brand was started by Brian Phillips for SUSQ in Dallas. KWJJ needed a hook, a slogan, a brand - It was thier consultant Joel Raab that came up with the slogan to replicate Dallas in 2003. Not Mike Moore. That's all.

Has anyone heard whether or not they'll be carrying any nationally syndicated programs, such as 'After Midnite With Blair Garner', or any of the countdown shows such as Bob Kingsley's CT Top 40?

I certainly hope our new country station here in LA (KKGO, aka GoCountry105) will add one of Garner's shows; he also has a new show from 7 PM/midnight, which was launched on January 8th.

Thanks for checkin' in Blair ;D

Mike Moore may take exception with the "same package used at Citadel". The Wolf brand as aired at Entercom stations, is his signature, not Scott's. The Wolf has a chance to be successful for one reason. Its not Bonneville. And Entercom HAS to make it work.

The overhyped delivery hasn't played well in the Bay in a decade, particularly with adults. Check the Bay market leaders...I don't see a hyped station like this in the group. The Wolf will have more money to work with for marketing...more money for talent...and a PD who is rich in his own right and willing to swing for the fences.

It won't work by sounding like a Modesto (Mahalick's success to my recollection) radio station...and it doesn't have a station ripe for repositioning and as cheap as CBS's KMPS to beat on this time. I'd predict a 2.4 or better in the first six months...which will put in on a par with what happened in country's previous incarnation.

Anybody can put on a station and call themselves The Wolf and many do recently that suck big time. Scott in my opinion is the first since Brian Phillips in Dallas to create a entertaining Wolf. Having said that if they want to do anything decent in 25-54 they'll have to eventually back off the full tilt boogie presentation especially in Mornings, Middays and part of Afternoons.

So they're not carrying either 'After Midnite' or Bob Kingsley's countdown show, correct?

I don't know, maybe THE WOLF should carry both of these excellent shows!!!!!!

Personnally, I hope the Wolf wanders off, far away from the Bay Area!!!!!!!!! How many times do they have to try it here? Its not going to last, it will be long gone before Bush is out of office !
I agree country music never lasts in SF.

Ok, I must respond to some of this.

First, the Wolf kind of Country has never been done in the Bay Area. The Bear didn't even come close.

Secondly, not only is the station Country but also a CHR for people who don't care for urban pop.

Just because you don't like the music doesn't mean you have to make uninformed statements.
