95.7 will be...

From the cloudy Crystal Ball-
So just what will we hear on the Carlsbad outlet...anything new? More Rock, CHR, etc? Well it's hard to "dance" around this
topic and not give possible hints; there may even be a 'stunting' period; and then the New 95.7 ....
Could be....

San Diego's Hit Music Station in the Top 40/Pop genre. However, the playlist on demand on their site reflects the Rhythmic genre. Why would they have 2 CHR's in the same market with Channel 933 being a powerhouse? One of them will be Rhythmic and I'm going to guess it's going to be KISS.
Good find! I'm perplexed with this move by Clear Channel San Diego. I also wonder why the company will have 2 stations playing the same exact genre? Even if there was a slightly different lean (pop vs rhythmic), the genres are still too close.

Thanks Clear Channel ???, you gave San Diego its FIFTH Top40/CHR-esque station (XHTZ Jammin' Z90, KHTS Channel 933, KSIQ Q96, KEGY Energy 103.7 & now 95.7 KISS FM)

I'd give it a few more listens before determining whether it's Rhythmic AC. Rhythmic AC would put this station in direct head-to-head competition with XHRM Magic 92.5

Definitely Rhythmic AC, not Urban or Old School R&B. They're now playing Wham's "Jitterbug" (Wake me up before you go-go). You'd never hear that on Magic 92.5. Before that, Marvin Gaye's "Mercy Mercy Me." (rarely heard on Magic).

2pm top-of-hour ID still using KOGO-FM calls.

Now, they're doing Heatwave's "Boogie Nights." Now THAT's a Magic song.

Sounds like they're trying to crawl into a tiny niche between Magic and The Walrus.

Clear Channel doesn't operate Jammin Z90, Q-96 or Energy 103.7. And KISS doesn't sound anything like Channel 933
This statement was made before the station flip. I was fooled to think that the KISS title would replicate a Top40 station like many other "KISS"-named stations around the nation. After a few tracks, it's gotten clear that the station is considered to be a Rhythmic AC. ... And the quote above was referring to San Diego having what potentially could've been five CHRs, not Clear Channel operating all the named stations. :)

On another note, does anyone think 95.7 KISS FM can make a dent in the ratings against Magic 92.5 or (to a smaller scale) 105.7 the Walrus?
