95.9 STUNTING????

Since KHYI has had a "Texas Music Revolution" concert for the past 12 years, I originally figured the Ranch was just trying to copy them again. Not sure now.

Wonder if Scott Mahalick is still consulting 95.9?

Not unless he's been doing it since Jan, Rusty Walker has been the Ranch's Consultant for the last several years

Having worked for them, my prediction is that They will go back to playing mostly Texas Music and now that Dingo is gone, Mike Crow will move over from Legends to host mornings on the Ranch. We'll know for sure Thurs if I'm right.

Who said Dingo is gone? Was that in the trades ? Missed that one.

As I said, I used to work there, I still have ways of knowing some things. He's gone and for reasons that you wouldn't want to mention in the trades.

What happened to Dingo??? I was so glad to hear him on The Ranch after leaving the wolf. The Ranch needs to get Justin Frazzel to come on board to dj and do traffic, not that I dont like Ron Moore.

The Ranch needs top 40, Texas country has come and gone...

Are you crazy?? It is one of the most popular formats especially for the college age kids. People are getting tired of the same ol pop country crap.
Texas country has way to much southern rock sound!! and lets not forget they are just saying top 40!!! that could mean something other than country

Texas Country has a southern rock sound because southern rock is what influenced many of the Texas Country artists. Forget Top 40. I know for a fact that they will stay Texas Country...totally Texas Country. Dingo is gone because he was taking the station in a "Top 40" direction (something many country stations tend to do these days). I honestly don't know why they continue to hire PD's. Gerry(GM) has his hands all over programming, so anyone who has the PD position is at his mercy. Dingo may have been told to go in the Top 40 direction. I am sure when they hired him, they discussed his programming philosophy. Gerry dictates everything. Period. The new 95.9 PD will be Mike Crow(who is already in the building with KTFW), so I guess the PD parade may be over.;)

Someone made an earlier comment about all the young 'uns on the Board of Directors. They may be young, but they know their stuff. Brian King (owner) is in his mid thirties, but he knows exactly what he is doing. He did everything right when he bought the frequency and decided on the format. He is well aware of the signal issue and he has a brilliant lawyer in charge of the FCC issues (and yes, the lawyer is around 30 years of age). Brian is very passionate about the format, something you don't find with corporate these days. I really don't think he knows what goes on under Gerry's management. What is sad is that the only people who can tell him without fear of reprisal are the ones no longer working there (and what credibility do they have)?

Brian has done very well putting his corporate team together( with the exception of Gerry). I think he needs to take over the hiring of Programming management as well.

Dingo was hired to make the station more like the Wolf. When Twister started to shift Texas I think his plan was squashed. Shame, liked some of the stuff he was doing. The station actually had some life in it.

Mike Crow is way too weak to do a high class morning show. That won't work!

Jay :-\

I don't know that Crow is weak. My question is why would you take him from an established morning show? Why mess with two stations when you only need a morning show for one of them? Tom Bigby has been filling in on 95.9, and if you ask me, they should have put him in that morning slot a long time ago. Again...the decision makers in that building are lacking.

THE Tom Bigby? Recent retiree from CBS? And DFW radio vet?

The only way Dingo is gone is if John Sebastien is the new PD of The Ranch. ;D

I hate to differ with you, but I spoke with someone in Mgmt over there over a week ago, he's G O N E gone!

Mike,
No Tom Bigbee worked in Houston a few years back and has been on KFWR since May of 05...2 different people

Mike,

This Tom Bigby is the Tom Bigby that has been at The Ranch for 2 or 3 years. He came up from KKBQ (93Q) in Houston where he was part of the morning show.

Andy

I agree. Tom would be good for that morning spot. But, what happens to Heywood?

Jay ;)

Heywood Stays. Heywood needs 1) someone to play off of and 2) someone to run his board. When I was with the Ranch, I always felt that the mornings sounded great whenever you had Heywood and Tom together...always much better than who ever Tom was filling in for... Tom "gets it" and when you put someone who "gets it" with someone who's a natural humorist like Heywood you've got the makings of a potentially great morning show. Tom should have been given the gig when Harmon left at the end of 06! Nothing against McCoy, he did a fine job, but there just wasn't the chemistry there needed to be.

Heywood stays. Tom and Heywood are friends and they have great chemistry. The show has has always been at least two people, anyway. Heywood hs been there from the start and isn't going anywhere. However, he does need someone to run the board.

The Meet the Staff page has been like that for several days now. With all their "stunting"...they removed the staff from one page, but left everyone on the Meet the Staff page. I guess someone realized that they forgot to remove the staff from that page as well, and decided to further confuse and confound everyone with this edited staff page.;) What I find amusing is that they left the calendar of events on the site( which runs past May 1st). If you are going to stunt...take the whole freakin site down. I guess the web guy was too busy making his shirt design for EDGEFEST and then whining about it when he did not win. Does Gerry actually pay employees for myspace time during work hours? ;D

ok so to the previous post I think that you are missing out on the point of social networking. Myspace is a crucial part of networking with your audience, so before you go make it look like the web guy is doing a bad job maybe you should go look at myspace and see all the other artist, record labels, studios, radio stations, and listeners that are on there. Myspace is becoming a key role in the way to communicate with your listeners. GREAT BUSINESS MODEL.

Anyhow I just wanted to throw that out there because I think in the business world today; many employers have a myspace and facebook and are using it again for business purposes much like how The Ranch has a myspace page to promote the station.

The website is down, but the stream is still active (thanks to it being on the streaming providers website)
