96.1 sounding more mainstream

How's this? "Major market talent and broadcasting professional". Mature enough for you? 8) Have a nice day!

How about, the subject is irrelevant? ;-)

This is really a surprise. Two CHR's in Charlotte, NC. I have always liked KISS 95.1 great playlist and mix. We shall see how 96.1 The Beat does. And changing the name to B 96 is a bad move as a couple people have said. Not bad for KISS 95.1 or CBS Radio Charlotte. As people would want to check out the website but end up at B 96 Chicago also a CHR owned CBS Radio.

I think its time they brand it Radio Disney.  I have satellite radio and the stuff that comes on Radio Disney is pretty much the same stuff coming on WIBT.  All the music they play now is very "tweenybopper" oriented and its a very limited playlist.  It has come to a point where I prefer listening to Kiss 95.1 over WIBT.  It used to be that my radio dial was never turned from 96.1.  Its not going to be long before I remove it from my presets.  I hope they fail, which I think they will. KHTE in Little Rock did this last year and since then their ratings have been in the dumps.

Does anybody think there is a chance somebody else will try a rhythmic in Charlotte?  There is a definite hole in the market right now.  Power 98 leans too urban AC to really pick up the market abandoned by WIBT.

How can Power 98 be to Urban AC because isn't sister station 101.9 the Urban AC. WPEG Power 98 is a Urban hip hop station.

They aren't fully urban AC but they lean that way. They clearly target an older audience. They are very heavy on R&B and old-school hip hop. They play some currents but that clearly isn't their focus. Power 98 would be classified as "urban contemporary" which has an R&B focus with less hip-hop/urban dance as opposed to a "mainstream urban" which is very hit driven.
