96.3 ESPN - Coming Soon

One additional category:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Border area stations
Toronto CA CFMZ 96.3 (Buffalo, NY)
Tijuana MX XHLNC 104.9 (San Diego, CA)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

In addition to CFMZ, there's sister station CFMX 103.1 Cobourg, which is actually listenable across the lake here in Rochester. (CFMZ isn't audible in Buffalo, or much of anywhere else on the US side of the lake, thanks to adjacent-channel WJYE 96.1 right in town.)

Another border station, albeit with very little signal into the US, is CJPX 99.5 Montreal, "Radio Classique" : http://www.cjpx.ca/

Another noncomm-on-commercial-band is brand-new: KESC 99.7 Morro Bay/San Luis Obispo CA, just recently acquired by LA's KUSC 91.5.

And WVTQ does have a website and streaming: http://www.vpr.net/music/classical/

Thanks, I have updated my list!
I hope I will not have to eliminate the eighth station on my list of independent commercial stations to soon.

ESPN Inc. registered the domains 963espn.com and 963espnradio.com last week.

WQXR's owners, The New York Times, is hemorrhaging cash.

Do the math.

I'm not sure that's a reliable indicator of anything. ESPN just launched ESPNChicago.com. Just for fun, type in "espnnewyork.com" and see where it goes.

Well, two months later, and still nothing.

I would have to think that if ESPN were to pull the trigger on WQXR, something would have to give this summer, before the start of the NFL season, so the Jets could secure an FM signal. Get ready to hear Mark Sanchez sacks in stereo!

Thought we decided those web addresses were probably gonna stay in that highly lucrative and highly competative rural Arkansas market!
