96.3 new mess! where's el pacha, coco cabrera? they went to hell?

Re: Incorrect posting of NY numbers

dominick said:
Spanish radio stink in new york. El vacilon 2.3, amor 2.1, luis jimenez 0.8!!!

Those are not the numbers for any significant demo for the last book (November) in New York. As has been reported in many of the trades, WXNY leads the other two 6 Am-Midnight by a wide margin, and has a tiny lead over the others in mornings in the sales demos.

In the PPM, mid-days and afternoons have higher listening levels for all radio. In New York, Spanish language morning shares are low because of the high usage of public transportation which always reduces radio listening.

Wxny might have better numbers at afternoon, midnight but from 6-11 am is vacilon de la manana...luis jimenez show is a failure in new york, so is outside of new york.

Again, incorrect data.

Imperio (moreno), why don't you just get over it? Luis J. on X96 has killed el Vacilon already. Like the commercial says (ha derrocado IMPERIOS obsoletos!) El vacilon is as dead as reggaeton. It's in the books!

The truth is that with the launch of this new image and brand, and with the help of Luis J. we can say that Univision is finally learning to make spanish radio in the US. The renovated WRTO (La Kalle - Miami) and WXNY are examples.

correction, wxny received a 3.3 not a 3.2..I believe november's high ratings were due to the good hype, good marketing skills and new station...I knew ratings would come down a bit...imperio, just give it up man, I think la equis does not need el pacha, it's ok the way it is..because la mega went up a bit and la equis dropped a bit, u think all of a sudden la equis need el pacha?...you have to be kidding me...radio stations go up and down from time to time..la mega used to be in the 5 range, now it's in the 2 range...the station is going south my friend...la mega is not what it once was..these two stations will battle for a long time, in other words, la mega has competition now....

p.s. I can't understand your argument; when th station changed it format and before november's ratings came out, you kept saying la equis needed el pacha..now, two months into the new station, la equis has clearly beat la mega and you are still saying la equis needs el pacha..gues what? they are doing it without your idol, el pacha.

my friend, radio is a business. i dont understand how univision allow this to happened ? el pachatazo had a million + ratings also coco clasicos, each show had 6 hours each saturdays,sundays... whose giving you the numbers el pacha, coco cabrera had on la kalle???? you dont do business like that man, you dont paid 33 millions for a new frecuency, plus a 5 million morning show to be on the botton... bad business man!

No one has addressed Moreno's first statement: Pacha and Coco were taken off 105.9. The question is has the NEW programming of 96.3 in the same time slots out-performed Pacha's and Coco's numbers...AND....IF SO.... have they outperformed X96.3's other day parts and demos.

If the answer is YES...then all the drama and personal attacks should cease...as should this thread.

Yes. The new format and programming is performing vastly ahead of what those weekend specialty shows achieved.

I really doubt this won't stop. Who's to stop someone from saying David made the numbers up or show proof of the numbers. I honestly do believe however the new programming on 96.3 is getting the numbers, and believe it or not, I'm one of those individuals listening to the weekend programming.

OK, ratings 101 again...

"Rating" is the percent of the universe listening at any given time.

6 AM to midnight, the sum of the rating of all stations in the NY market is about 9.7. That means that out of every 10 people, on average, one is listening to the radio at any given moment.

The biggest daypart, 10 AM to 3 PM, gets about a 13 rating out of a universe of 100. 87% of people at any given time are not listening. Nights have about a 5, aternoons a 12 and mornings about 11.7.

No station can have a rating of "about a million" as the highest conceivable rating would be 100; impossible as no station would ever have all the available listening.

The highest rating any station gets on the weekend (Sat and Sun) is about a 0.6 (except Lite FM at Christmas) so there is a big difference between 0.6 rating and a million.

Rating: percent of universe listening
Share: percent of only those listening to radio.
Cume: different people who listen for a minimum amount of time.

www.arbitron.com has several informative publications that will help you to begin to understand radio ratings, the terminology, and the way numbers are used. Before you post more things that make no sense at all, you might find it interesting and even fun to read some of that material.

luis jimenez is getting 1.5, not 0.8 and el vacilon 2.0 (December ratings). please see link below. el vacilon is not doing that great neither, why don't they replace it with something else moreno? what do you have to say about that?

Every individual hour of Saturday mid-days and afternoons averaged between a 0.1 and 0.2 rating over a 6 month average of the first part of last year on 12+ (of course, proor to the change in format and move to 96.3).

Of course, 12+ has zero value to advertisers and stations alike.
