96.7 K-Love Signing On Very Soon

NE Radio Watch http://www.fybush.com/ reports:

"We're hearing the last holdup may involve the signal path to Trump Plaza, since we're told EMF can't install a satellite dish right at the New Rochelle site to receive the K-Love programming from California."

Interesting they can't find room on the Trump Plza for a satellite dish. EMF uses the KU Band to transmit KLove to my knowledge so one would think it could be easy to install one on the roof. but I guess anything is possible.

Wouldn't need a stinkin' satellite dish if it were locally programmed

I have to laugh and agree! You would think, being the WORLD'S NUMBER ONE radio market, they *WOULD* make it LOCAL, specifically for this unique market! I wish them well... I can't help but wonder how their (good, but generic) satellite-delivered format will "fly" in the Big Apple.

I would hope that they'd make a way to at LEAST make Morning Drive a LOCALLY originated program. We shall see.

Maybe the proprietor of the building wants to see Mike Novak's birth certificate first. ;D

LOL. Good one. Wonder what the deal is with a satelite dish? How much space do they need? And why would it be such a big deal? And to top it off, why didn't they think of that BEFORE they bought the Coast!!!

The F.C.C. has not yet approved the application of K-Love's owner, EMF for a station license.
With regard to the satellite dish, EMF had plenty of time to deal with this issue while waiting for the sale to close. It is hard to believe that would be the main factor delaying the launch of K Love in New York. EMF has put K Love on the air on many stations, so they have plenty of experience.
The fact that nothing has been broadcast locally on 96.7 for several days indicates the station transfer from Cox to EMF could have been handled better.
The relatively complex switch between WQXR and WXNY a couple of years ago on 96.3 AND 105.9 FM took place within seconds.

The satelite dishes were installed months ago.
The main dish is on the Trump roof and the secondary
dish to back up the trump is located and a diffrent building
a few streets away from the Trump.
When all is compleate they will have two transmitters
two equipment racks with the same gear in both.
One rack feeds one transmitter the other rack feeds the second
transmitter. plenty of backup.

^^^ Ed B is the Engineer who built the thing. Now we know the "rest of the story". It's gotta be an FCC issue at this point.

So, let's review: Fybush was "told" that "EMF can't install a satellite dish right at the New Rochelle site..."

And Ed, our resident engineer who is kind enough to take the time out of his day to answer our questions, reports that not one, but two satellite dishes were installed at or in the vicinity of Trump Tower in New Rochelle.

Either somebody yanked Fybush's chain, or somebody is yanking ours. (And I take you at your word, Ed, by the way.)

I am surprised that Scott Fybush has not mentioned that K Love's owner EMF is waiting for F.C.C. approval of their application for a license for WCTZ 96.7.
It does not make sense that equipment issues are holding up the launch, as they are very experienced at setting up stations. And we've been told that the transmitter is ready to go. And there is no local studio that needs to be set up
Since this station will just be a feed of a satellite transmission, and there will be no local studio, I wonder if someone will be around in this area to keep the station on the air if there are technical problems down the road.

Without divulging any proprietary information, I CAN say that equipment problems are NOT the issue. :) Once everything is ready, it WILL sign on. We just have to be patient. :)

BTW, the info that Ed B gave, above, is 100% correct. Since he is the man with his "hands on the wires", he knows of what he speaks. Anything beyond that is pure speculation.

PATIENCE, young Grasshoppers. ;D

I still say they are waiting for the MSW to be approved.. They need the Main Studio Wavier to operate without a studio in NYC. Once that is approved they will sign on .. That's my guess.

One thing I really like is all the attention this little tiny 3100 watt station is getting. I am sure people will listen as I have said earlier that Contemporary Christian is a very popular genre. Looking forward to hearing it WITHOUT my Blackberry. :D

Well, I wouldn't say "very popular". WAWZ 99.1 barely reaches the middle of the pack in the M/S/U ratings in NJ. I would expect CC to be even less popular in NYC. I think most people that post here are more interested in some new radio station signing on, rather than the format itself.

Perhaps, but I like to think that it will be a nice alternative for all those "me too" stations flooding our area.

Rumor has it KLOVE will be signing on this Friday May 27!
I'm skeptical about that. Their station license application has still not been approved.
In addition, there is no mention on K Love's website of the New York outlet being ready to start up.
K Love had emailed me recently that do not expect to be on the air in New York until May 31, at the earliest.

I hope K-Love takes over 94.7 FM soon? Mr Camping is worse than even Glenn Beck. I bashed Beck in the past but He needs to loose all of his stations all over America and other countries.

I assure you that Camping's going nowhere, by that I mean his stations will remain on the air til at least Oct. 21, his latest "prediction". He had a press conference last night on Open Forum and more or less confirmed this.

KLOVE will be so great for NYC. 96.7 FM get ready!!! I heard but cannot confirm that Friday is the day!!!
