96.7 K-Love Signing On Very Soon

Just found that 96.7 K-Love has a website up...they are also streaming...

http://www.klove.com/music/radio-stations/new-york-city.aspx

This is rather interesting - the page is a unique splash for the specific signal, and has listings for NYC concerts and events. I've never seen that for any of their other stations before.

As someone else already said, the stream has been up for years, as it is the exact same programming for all the stations (save for some community calendars from time to time).

Once a radio operator gets into New York City, they mean business!

Why isn't 96.7 The Coast saying goodbye to their audience these last days on the air ?
Probably because they don't care.
Rarely do I see stations say goodbye until they are just about to flip.

They made their money. Listeners? Meaningless to them, now. Cha-Ching. They already deposited the check. "See ya!"

Personally, I look forward to when K-Love finally gets their programming on that station. I checked today (5/5) and it still hasn't switched.

There's no point to doing so, I guess. Cox should just flip 96.7 to a simulcast of Star 99.9 to get listeners to switch.

Even with months of notice (if a format change is caused by something external), stations wait till the last day to notify the public, if at all.

Again... it baffles me that the station is still going on as if it isn't going anywhere.

Even this morning (confirmation that The Coast is still on the air) I hear a liner that a certain city in Fairfield County "is making the switch to the new 96.7 The Coast." Stop. It's just getting sad.

Yeah but look at it from the owners stand point.. They are not relocating The Coast format so at this point the format is pretty much there to keep the lights on until EMF takes over.

I thought there might have been something brewing today at around 5:45 AM, when I heard a break with zero commercials, and a liner that trumpeted "getting back to the music faster" (ya think? ::) ) followed by the David Bowie song "Changes". That was followed by songs other than "Closing Time" and "Free Bird", so I moved on...

Well, it's May 9, and The Coast is still breezing along.

The Coast is still coasting along. I think it launches May 21 and we will have a battle between the 2 religious stations.

Does the Coast 96.7 FM have an e-mail address or a phone number to find out when the launch date is ? I would think they would insert hints of the new K-Love station coming soon in their broadcast...

www.967thecoast.com is their website.

I'm not sure why The Coast would plug the new station (unless K-Love is willing to pay for that). I've heard some announcements on The Coast saying to check out classic rock on 95.9 FM. They should just simulcast The Fox or Star 99.9 at this point.

Why won't K-Love just start their religious programming from Stamford? They already paid for the stick, so might as well get some value now while the new transmitter is still under construction.

Because EMF's goal is to be a NYC no need to launch their format then have it yanked away when the sginal moves. Coast will Coast until the switch happens to the NYC transmitter.

The offer was made to them, but soundly rejected. Apparently, they don't want to start their programming from Stamford... then get a bunch of complaints from people who will suddenly lose the signal when they flip to New Rochelle. That is my educated guess.

Good luck trying to get an answer out of them on the "Coast-to-K-Love" switch front.

While you're there, just for kicks and giggles, sign up for that "Coast Insider Club" or whatever it is they've got - they're still accepting new applications as if they aren't going anywhere!

I actually sent form message to K-Love asking when the New York station will be going on the air...they say they will get back to me within 3 business days.
