96.7 K-Love Signing On Very Soon

Currently WTSX is not on-air in Port Jervis, NY anymore.

I do know that WTSX Port Jervis has to move to Lehman Twp, PA before the move of WCTZ can happen.....Listeners of WTSX have been informed that changes to 96.7 were coming soon and if they lost the signal to listen to "Fox" on other frequencies in the Port Jervis area like AM1490 & translator 107.7 and of course the main signal 103.1 WJGK from Newburgh.....Anyone know if WTSX is currently on the air at this time?

That is great news! I, for one, am VERY MUCH looking forward to having K-Love's signal available in this area! I know at least one other member of this board who is even more anxious than I! :) (Hello, Mike Z!)

As Willie said earlier to me its the FCC holding things up I'm sure. When the station I do a show at (WVOF 88.5FM) increased their ERP to 1000 it took months to get FCC approval. Imagine a tiny station like VOF taking that long to get approval! KLOVE will be worth the wait!!

-Mike Z (hey Willie wassup?)

Hey, Mike - you mistyped! WVOF is only 100 watts. ;)

The story I heard about WVOF, was they were only a 10 watt Class D, and were on the verge of being taken off the air. It was the Gospel Alive and some of the other ethnic/local programming that saved their bacon, and helped them get the 100w upgrade.

Anyway, back to the topic of K-Love: The only advice at this point is to "Stay Tuned". They will switch when Uncle Charlie says that they can.

is there any possibility with WCTZ 96.7 when it signs on to New Rochelle being right under metro North new haven line and Amtrak interfere with their radio's by any chance? I know their band is far away from 96MHZ but I'd figure I'd ask.

Jamie, I doubt there would be any interference. Doesn't seem like there would be as MNR probably uses a different channel.

The F.C.C yesterday 5/16 approved Cox Radio's application for WCTZ License to Cover from the New Rochelle transmitter location.
Since WTSX, 96.7 in Port Jervis has reportedly shut down, I believe there is now nothing significant standing in the way of a changeover from WCTZ in Stamford, to WKLV in New Rochelle.

Are you sure WTSX is off? The other week someone said they were off, so I as a DXer hoped to maybe get the Albany area station, but found WTSX still on. They were weaker, but still on. I will check tonight to see if WTSX is on.

I believe the F.C.C. would not have granted WCTZ a License to Cover, if WTSX was still an issue.

In The Bronx, I used to get 96.7 on my radio like a local. However, I noticed it was barely coming in this afternoon. I thought perhaps the switch was on, when I noticed their website still playing songs that likely all of four people (who "made the switch!") are listening to. But that may be a clue that the tower arrangements are underway.

The Coast did it again: This morning at 5:45 AM, they played "Changes" by David Bowie.

Stop jerking us radio geeks' chains around, will ya? ::)

Funny how this move is getting so much attention considering it will be a format nobody is going to listen to. If they were keeping the Coast format I would probably tune in.

Aux contraire. Did you know that Contemporary Christian Music outsells Jazz and Easy Listening COMBINED???? Its a HUGE market. People will most definetly listen.

But ansky, don't you get it? They are tuning in - they're actually "making the switch," according to promos that still run on the station to this day - despite the fact that Fybush projected the Coast to get washed away as early as this week.

Poor Pete Salant. With his illustrious career in radio, it's hard to believe that this charade of a radio station (not under his watch, of course) could possibly be the last radio station on his resume.

Not only is WCTZ 96.7 silent, the station's former website has been taken down.
It now shows the logos of 5 other Cox stations in the area, and says simply, "Thanks for Listening! Please visit our other radio stations." This gives the impression that WCTZ will not be returning to the air.
I wonder if WKLV will be signing on later today, or if they need some time to first test out their New Rochelle transmitter.
