96.7 K-Love Signing On Very Soon

Good reception in West Orange. I can still hear the pirate on the air depending on how I place my antenna. And since this is CC music this is officially the first and last time I tune in :)

Of course here in New Haven, it'll never come in...........but I am SO GLADDDDD that FINALLY its there!!! WHOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually I just drove around my area in New Haven, some 55 miles away from New Rochelle and barely and I mean barely it comes in. Fades in and out weakly.........nonetheless I am so excited for our area!!! I work in Stamford and it will come in bright and clear there! :) :) :) :) :) :)

When will the call letter change take effect? According to the FCC it is still WCTZ legally...

Since they are on with the new calls today .. likely have taken effect.. the FCC DB on the website isn't always 100% quick when it comes to changes (slight delay).

I was visiting my Mom in Bridgeport, and as I drove away, I punched-up 96.7, and THERE IT WAS! For the FIRST TIME in a DECADE, we have Christian Music in the AIRWAVES!!! :D YYYESSSSS!!!! For the FIRST TIME EVER on FM, and in STEREO!

As I got onto the Merritt in BPT, it was mostly solid, with some fading. At the Sikorsky Bridge, loud & clear. Down the hill, into Orange, (as expected) it faded. It slowly came back, but remained spotty by Exit 56. I got off 57, and onto Rte 34 East. By the time I got to the West Haven line, it was all but gone. :'( At my house, zilch. :'(

BUT I AM SO THANKFUL to finally have Christian music IN THE AIR AGAIN!!!

Willie,

here in New Haven/Hamden line, it came in ever so weakly when I drove around a bit. I'm near exit 59/60 on the Merrit......and exit 44 on the 95. So really you and I are at the extreme edge of "tunage" (a word I just made up). It's so great tho to finally have a FULL TIME CCM station nearby! first time EVER. Can't count WLIX cause they didn't play it full time.

So WKLV's "K-Love" is on the air, is 96.7 covers Port Jervis? I was listening to "The Fox" about a week ago towards the top of the hour, it doesn't mentioned WTSX in the ID, but it just says "WDLC, Port Jervis, WJGK and WJGK HD-1, Newburgh, Middletown" and "The Fox" is still on 96.7 and 103.1. WDLC is still on 1490 AM after 96.7 has moved to Lehman Township, PA about two weeks ago for a permanent home for "The Fox".

They're weak but listenable here in Somerset County, NJ -- only 1 bar out of 5 on my Denon tuner's signal strength meter using a set of rabbit ears, but coming in cleanly in stereo. Which means I'll have to find a new channel for my own Part 15 FM modulator, because its range on 96.7 has now been drastically reduced.

And I guess K-Love is a more "liberal" Christian music format? I heard them play "You and Me" by Lifehouse. I wonder if they'll actually dare to play Ray Boltz, Jennifer Knapp, or any other openly gay Christian music artists...

Weird. I never visited K-LOVE's website before today, but when I clicked on "local stations" it knew my zip code and that there is no local K-LOVE station in my area. Then it showed me a list of stations with-in 200 miles of my zip code.

Yes their site uses your ISP and IP address to figure out what area you live in.

They probably haven't updated the station database, took a while when our local station switched over.

Also 96.7 here in Port Jervis, NY area is still static, no WTSX or WKLV, though I really didn't expect to get WKLV way out here.

Not many people in northeast NJ will be hearing K-Love. I flipped through the stations on my car radio this morning and all I could hear on 96.7 was the pirate.

loud and clear here in Old Greenwich CT with a little bit of static during at Talkover. no RDS or HD. I notice that it looks like either their is a 90 second delay or that their clock is behind in the studio. Now back to my q-104.3 HD 2...

Lifehouse considers themselves Christians just didn't specifically market their music towards the CCM group (Mainstream group of Chrisitans) .. Switchfoot would be another good example (though Switchfoot specifcally releases singles to CCM Radio) .. Another great example. Owl City on Mainstream CHR (Not many know he is actually a Christian) and has seen some airplay on Christian CHR. (even though that's not his main target with his music)

Does the format also include Sixpence None The Richer and Creed? I know both acts got their start in Christian music before going secular. Does CCM radio play their secular music, their Christian music, both or none at all?

Reporting from the Lower East Side. I get a good signal on the portable stereo in the room, a decent signal on the living room stereo and a weak signal on the clock radio. For a comparison, WNYE's signal is better here than WKLV. Still, I can hear WKLV without too much trouble.

Although I'm not a religious person, at least the music is tolerable and, so far, no doomsday nuttery (my word) like from Family Radio.
