And I guess K-Love is a more "liberal" Christian music format? I heard them play "You and Me" by Lifehouse.

Lifehouse considers themselves Christians just didn't specifically market their music towards the CCM group (Mainstream group of Chrisitans) .. Switchfoot would be another good example (though Switchfoot specifcally releases singles to CCM Radio) .. Another great example. Owl City on Mainstream CHR (Not many know he is actually a Christian) and has seen some airplay on Christian CHR. (even though that's not his main target with his music)

Does the format also include Sixpence None The Richer and Creed? I know both acts got their start in Christian music before going secular. Does CCM radio play their secular music, their Christian music, both or none at all?

Sixpence, possibly yes, but I haven't heard Creed on there.

I wonder if they'll actually dare to play Ray Boltz, Jennifer Knapp, or any other openly gay Christian music artists...

Not meaning to start an uproar in that direction, but no.

I just came back from a drive into Queens. The signal was okay from the start of the trip and into Brooklyn. By the time I got to Corona by the #7 stop, the signal was pretty good. Nothing interfering with the signal. I even got a good signal of WPST, even better than WKXW, which is shocking since 'PST is a bit further into the Pennsylvania side of the NJ/Penn border. ???

Anyway, reception of this station is depending on what kind of radio you have.

Funny you mentioned that because tonight in Northern Bergen & Southern Rockland, WPST was stopping on my seek with little to no interference from WFME....When I checked out WKXW I was getting a complete mess and was much weaker than WPST.

As for the new WKLV 96.7 the signal is booming thoughout all of Bergen County and Southern Rockland....Even in the spots where the hills weaken the Westchester signals (WXPK, WFAS-FM, WHUD) its still there just about perfect.....It also puts out a better signal then WAWZ does in this area....So now Bergen County has 3 CCM stations (WKLV, WAWZ & W276AQ)

Tonight isn't a good night to test the signal since there's a strong tropo opening. The best time to test is in the middle of the day.

The correct call letters for the new station are WKLV-FM (which most are not using on this board).

AM 1440 WKLV is an affiliate of ESPN Radio licensed to Blackstone, Virginia.

I believe I did point out the pre-existence of the AM station a few pages back on this thread... and must wonder what compensation (if any - I know it's a non-comm, but they really opened up the coffers for this 96.7 signal) the AM station is getting from EMF to use the calls on the FM side.

So can I call them up and request "Like a Prayer" by Madonna, or would that be considered heresy? What about Sting's "If I Ever Lose My Faith in You"? REM's "Losing My Religion"? Or even "God Must Have Spent a Little More Time on You" by N'SYNC?

Anyway, last night I thought a pirate had taken over the frequency, because I tuned in 96.7 and heard rap music... but after listening to the words closely, it turned out to be "K-Love" playing a Christian rap song.

If people analyzed the WKLV-FM signal last night, they might have thought it reached all the way to Virginia!

There were at least 5 K-Love stations receivable in the area due to tropo. Yet, Star 99.1 was suffering from interference from WPLR and El Zol even in NJ.

I like stuff like that. I wish I knew about it. One time while in Bridgeport, I picked up 99.7 FM from Birmingham AL. It was the weirdest thing and by far the farthest ever FM station I ever received.

So I guess the new WKLV-FM signal makes the trip into Fairfield county. Whew! Thank God. Now people can continue "making the switch" to 96.7!

Actually I'm really glad CCM is finally in the NYC area for sure! ;D

Rode it out to exit 35 on Route 80 today, a little spotty out there. It was solid after the Rockaway hill. On the way back I had to go through Springfield via the turnpike and 78, solid signal down past Newark airport and out to Morristown up 24.

Nice coverage from that Trump Tower in New Rochelle. 3.1kW at 470' HAAT gets out quite nicely. How is it in Manhattan? Anyone drive it there?

@Disney: This will probably be the link when the entry is updated, but as of this post: "The antenna pattern for WKLV-FM is unavailable..."

@WNTI: 96.7 in midtown Manhattan as of this A.M. - nada...

@Stormdesk: Re: "...Now people can continue "making the switch" to 96.7!" Ha! Hey, is it too late to sign up for their "listener club"? ::)

You weren't hearing the 96.7 pirate in any of these areas? That's hard to believe.

Having now sampled the station for a few days, my conclusion? It's a culture-caster more than a god-caster. It's as if I'm hearing something that I would hear on the radio dial if I were living in Nebraska, Iowa or Oklahoma. Issues being discussed are geared towards people who live in small towns and rural areas, mixed in with the religiously-themed pop music.
