96.9 new call letter application

Speaking of WZOU... Does anyone have any audio of the day "94.5 WZOU" became "JAM'N 94.5" but still used wzou in the top hour before changing to WJMN? I can not find anything anywhere with the "switch" even though the sound was changing well before the name change.

Actually, in all seriousness, I heard the CALLs yesterday morning and it sounded like W-“Be Cutey”, as in, like, something similar to, “Hi sugar, wanna go party?”: Maybe it’s meant more as a “secret” lingo code, rather than a station slogan? 8)

The Beat might make sense, I catch them playing songs more heavy in hip hop than Jamn all the time. Right now they are playing Stand Up by Ludacris and Shawnna from 2003. It doesn't get more Urban and Hip Hop than that...Ive also caught them playing Back That Azz Up by Juvenile, OPP by Naughty by Nature, You Can Do it by Ice Cube, This is How We Do by 50 Cent and the Game. Personally I'd advise against the heavy hip hop and try to mix in some more RnB akin to 93.9 Jamz in Hawaii.

I think that is a good thing to be honest...I know that the "Urban" audience definitely digs 96.9 100x more than 94.5 at this point, I know many people in this listening bracket. I know that they prefer Hot to Jam'n and especially the mix shows and music selections overall

I'm part of this urban crowd that digs Hot 96.9 more than Jam'n mostly because it is what it says it is a rhythm and all the best throwback station. I'm saying that rather than play these hip hop heavy throwbacks try more, K-Ci and JoJo, Mark Morrison, Sade, Bell Biv Devoe, Blackstreet, Next, Aaliyah, Rob Base and less of the heavy stuff. Also they should just drop anything post-2007 and keep it in between ~1987 and 2007 Just be a recurrent urban smooth RnB/Hip Hop 80s 90s and 2000s station. The non Hip Hop and RnB tracks are already being scaled back and they seem awkward as it is, just take them out I say. Theyre alo INCREDIBLY FEMALE ORIENTED i see they have a "Men Madness" Tournament up on their website and shirtless photos of Ne-Yo...they have zero interest in male listeners it seems....

They do play those RnB jams quite a bit... Mark Morrison has been in rotation for as long as I can remember...same with Jodeci, BBD, Blackstreet, and Next, and Aaliyah. LOL. As a matter of fact, I just heard Jay-Z & Foxy I'll Be into Montell Jordan This is How We Do It into Janet Jackston "Nasty" (from 1986!)... you won't hear that ANYWHERE else on the dial..I don't care who you are. 96.9 is the bomb right now. And it shows, Jam'n is hurting..

Anything that does NOT sound like a Clear Channel operation is refreshing.

I find it funny that on the iheartradio app you can stream them. Surprised CC doesn't have any rules around competing formats in the same market.

The reason why Hot sounds so good is because they don't repeat the same few songs over and over again!!
