96 Rock back in the day...

This week I visited with Kaedy Kiely, and she gave me 2 huge scrapbooks filled with lots of 96 Rock memorabilia. I understand Beth Kepple pulled them all together and it's a great historical perspective of the radio station that finally toppled the ratings leader at the time, 94Q. So I thought I'd share a little slice of Atlanta radio history with an online photo album. You'll recognize a lot of the names, some you won't, and check the hair styles! These photos come from 1985-86. Enjoy.

cool photos! sadly, beth kepple has never put together a scrapbook in her life -- she gave kaedy the photos from a discarded box of stuff when 96 moved from the chrome gouda building to the building of death. (death of 96rock, coincidentally.) apparently the braintrust at clearchannel didn't value the history of the station. as evidenced by project 96-1. ugh.

Wow!!! Talk about a blast from the past. One the photos mentions Timothy Johns. Any photos from Charlie Magruders? I meet Kadey there once in early 1990s. Very cool person. What ever happen to Butch, the owner of Magruders? Is he still around or is he in Rock & Roll Heaven?

I love to see some photos from some concerts at The Omni, The Fox,Lakewood( now Hi Fi Buys)Amphitheater.

What ever became of Alan Sneed, Bearman & John Boy Bryant?

Sneed is still consulting radio and even owns a few stations...John-Boy lives in Commerce and does financial planning...Bearman went back to Allentown PA long time ago and was a big star there...
