97.1 The Tower Website

they still have pics of Coyote & Cathy on the site, as well as pics from Oldies 97.1...yea..the ALL NEW ..yada yada yada

Am I missing something? I went top the website and found, basically, nothing. Their photo page is down for "maintainence". Click the buttons for "Progam Guide", "Contests" and "Events" and get links to their sponsors. Nothing on the "Weather" page at all. This is a radio station website?

What a website!

Click on the Yes banner and see how incredibly small our playlist is! Notice how the same songs are played in the same order from day to day! See how often a station can play Hollywood Nights, Stay, and Go Your Own Way!!

I think I'll go back to the stream of that station in Pittsburgh playing Christmas music.

Re: 97.1 The Tower Website to change to 971 THE DINOSAUR???

Tibbs2 says:
This website is 100% accurate and reflective of the station. They don't care. Why
should listeners! Thanks to brilliance like this, people continue to NOT listen to radio
anymore. They should change the name to 97.1 THE DINOSAUR. Sign it off.

Whoa, hold on just a minute. This new PD from Toledo was supposed to be a no holds barred kind of guy. His Toledo street cred would shake up things at Cumulus and the classic rock format. Do you mean to tell me I may have won that dollar bet against another R-I poster? The music sounds the same after switch to Tower, except they cut back on "Miracles" by Jefferson Starship. Jackson Browne, Bob Seger and the rest of same classic hits favorites are still spinning until you cannot get them out of your brain.

But wait...No one mentioned that thought-provoking, riot-inciting, flame-throwing poll question. "Do you believe in Global Warming"...WOW...When I saw that I could't help but be impressed on how "balls to the wall", "no holds barred", "to hell with public opinoin" kind of station this was... :) I hope they are prepared for the hellish public backlash that kind of question will provoke.

Only if the FCC says Crumulus should loose control of 97.1 and that fantastic website!!!

This entire thread just needs to be deleted...it's actually as bad as the damn radio station. hahaha!

and....ftr...I don't believe even Chris Romer could have screwed up that radio station or
website that bad. AND THAT IS SAYING SOMETHING. lol. Just playing, cr.

give me some credit...I bet I could!

LMAO ---

Look at another brightside of this situation:

With competition like 'Duh Tower', no one from any other broadcasting company
even has to show up to work to get better ratings! Competition was supposed
to make things better, right? ::)

The website is a reflection of the station...they're both pretty LAME. No listen live link, no way to email the station (except with a request, which they'd probably ignore anyway)...the station plays the same dam'n songs OVER AND OVER. What the station should do....go modern AC/not-so-hard alternative with a lot of 80s. Do we need 3 stations playing "The Joker", "It's Only Rock and Roll", "Reeling In The Years", ?? and "Jack and Diane"? Wait, I think about 7 stations play that one. Then they should get something on the digital display other than 97.1...like the other stations do...song title, artist, (The River just started doing that)...and CHANGE the name! The name (and the logo, which is pretty disgusting if you really look at "The Tower") is not so great. The Atlanta classic hits station always lands in the top 5/top 10...why can't this one? Because they're doing it all wrong, that's why.

So, roadrunner, other than just a few minor negative points, you seem to really like that Tower station, huh? ::)

(that was mainly for Scott to shake his head at and laugh.)

I agree with the roadrunner regarding how lame the station is. Whatever it is trying to be, it is not good at it. I don't care for Bob and Tom, and whenever I have listened to it during the day, the station just lacks personality. I have to admit that I would rather it be more of an oldies format, playing a few 50's with a much broader 60's and 70's playlist than oldies or classic hits/rock stations usually have. But, with that said, even if they did do that --- if whatever they did between songs didn't change, it would still be a lame station.

I don't what you're implying or what you meant. If I liked it so much, I wouldn't have said what I had said. What's with the eyeroll? Never mind, I don't even want to know.

"Roadrunner", "Tibbs is just having a little fun, he did"nt mean anything bad, he hates the station too!

OK. Sorry, I should've known. I'm going through a "defensive /everybody's out to get me" phase right now! Too much caffeine I guess.

Roadrunner, I'm on your team. I don't actually 'hate' the station, I just hate the fact that the spineless
mid managers in their corporate cubicles are to scared to stand up and prove they could give their
superior tools a lot more success and revenue. THERE IS NO EXCUSE for settling for the ratings any
Crumulus station is getting here. And, punishing the people that were the air talent and had to read
boring liners and play the same 36 songs is unacceptable. 'YOU play these songs and say THIS on
the air and you will be FIRED." Wrong to everybody involved. Including the Dickey
brother who have received 75% of the wealth they could have had, like it or not, if they'd seen
that maximizing formats, not cutting corners could have made them even bigger. I admit, $500 million
lost here and there means nothing to them anymore. But still.
