97.1 Welcoming.......

I am streaming them from here in IL and I heard a liner saying classic hits from the 70's, 80's, and 90's so maybe they are slowly gonna morph into another "Chuck" type station, but with it being so close to the Chuck in Gainsville I would not think that would be the case. Bet they are just gonna waver and add a few pop tunes here and there and see if it holds or see who else maybe go true classic hits with a pop lean... CC1
Could Chuck on 103.7 be a test for a possible move to 97.1? Apparently a lot of 97.1 listeners also listen(ed) to Journey and AGH, and the number one complaint about River is the tiny playlist.
That's exactly what I came back to this thread to suggest after reading it earlier.

When I listen to Chuck FM here in Greenville, I almost feel like I'm listening to a classic hits station due to the emphasis on 70s/80s. They have a variety though, like disco, rock, new wave, pop, etc.

The only REAL classic hits station that Cox owns is KONO in San Antonio.

I have been listening to the polluted River for a while, and it may be worse than ever. They are trying to be something they are not. Fleetwood Mac again,,,yay....

Big 98.3 is a good station. Listened to them last year on the way to FL and they were doing an A-Z weekend...awesome playlist.

Massive signal too......I carried them from just north of Daytona to past Charleston on 95.

Just sent an email to Lee Cagle pd of the River and he is out of the office till August 1, and he said Aloha, hmmm. Is something brewing?

lol, Then I sent the same email to Dan Kaerney VP, He had an out of office reply that he would be back on May 18th....WTF is going on here??I am going to call Anne Cox and have her run them over with her walker...

If I was the PD for 971, I would not touch the format for now. Now personally, the station is a bore because of the small playlist, though I will admit it has grown some. Regardless, according to the ratings, The River has shown a steady climb for 3 consecutive books. I will be very interested in how the books look next week BUT I don't expect much impact from WYAY format change because so many people don't have any clue about it yet.

WSRV-FM 3.3 827,500 3.4 858,600 3.7 829,800 Classic Hits
