I'm surprised more cities do not have a LITE FM----like WLTW ---NYC. OR---is the term--Lite FM controlled/owned by clear channel? I don't think so.
As much as some here on the board may like rock, it won't happen with this transaction. It would not be a good business move for a company that already has that base well covered.
Actually, I agree! Not that PHILLY has too many rock stations, they don't! However, GM has too many in their cluster and this was a way for them to buy out the competition. Also, if they wanted to do Alt.Rock, wouldn't they have morphed MMR in that direction once they scored Preston and Steve, like so many of us WISHED they would do?
Lite AC sounds plausible, but it seems B101 is a tough nut to crack.
Hot Talk wouldn't fare too well up against Free FM.
Country? WXTU might be vunerable, given the huge complaint about them is their AC-ish presentation (as has been posted here before), so that might make sense.
GM don't do urban, so no worry about further oversaturation.
Here's a thought....might GM bring fulltime classical back to Philly? I believe the WFLN calls are once again in play.
Sports...I'm not too sure. WPEN doesn't have enough sports to facilitate a move to FM as that would be the only appeal (sports in FM Stereo, a la the Eagles). I would actually see WIP on FM before WPEN.
