97.7 Lubbock

I was flipping through stations and my stereo stopped on 97.7. I discovered that it was carrying 104.3. Looks like Ramar got a translator on 97.7 since 104.3 can be spotty in some parts of town?

Re: Double T 104.3 and 97.7?

Update: The signal is now silent. Must have been running tests on it last night. Will see if it's back on tonight

[EDIT-reference to deleted material]

It looks like 97.7 is officially on the air...with scrolling RDS too!

I find it very odd, however, that it is carrying Double T 104.3. I know 104.3 can be spotty in some parts of town but it is more than listenable. Sticking it on 97.7 seems like a waste of frequency to me. Kind of reminds me of K Love and Air 1 hogging all the frequencies in other markets.

Re: Double T 104.3 and 97.7?

Does Double T really need a translator? I know they are somewhat of a rimshot, but I doubt they get beat bad enough during tropo openings to warrant a translator.

Any updates on what is going on with 97.7 as of late?

Agree with you 110%. 104.3 can be spotty in some parts of town, but more than listenable. This kind of reminds me how K Love and Air 1 hog all the open frequencies in other markets (not so much out here but in places like Austin/San Antonio).

97.7 is actually on the air now last time I checked. Even has scrolling RDS(scrolls "Double T 104.3 You Lubbock SPORTS Station")!

Odd that they will put the nice scrolling RDS on their translator but not on the main 104.3 frequency (which currently reads on my stereo as DBLT1043).

Re: Double T 104.3 and 97.7?

i really don't see how a translator(with a weak signal) will Save a station that isn't cutting-it anyway... (also see: Rebel Radio, Fox Talk 950).. there is a use for this in markets where terrain plays a part in coverage, but i don't see a reason for it here in the "Flat-Lands" of Texas. the fcc should be granting licences for these things to Citizen Groups who feel they are being underserved, or private citizens who can program a radio station better than the knuckleheads doing it now.

Is this Ramar? They're supposedly havea new station on the air soon?

I started a thread on this a few days ago but no one replied so I thought I'd just start a new one.

97.7 Lubbock is a 'translator', and since Lubbock doesn't have many HD-2s or HD-3s, it can only translate an existing station. Last poster may be correct in that it will be used to fill in the gaps left by Ramar's new 107.7... Time will tell.

Yes. Double T comes from Ramar Communications.

If the new station you are thinking of is 107.7, I have not heard any new info on when that frequency will go up.

(P.S. Thanks mods for deleting the duplicated thread :) )

to round out their cluster of losers, if i were betting, Hip-Hop or better yet Hispanic Country. ;)
