98.1 GREENVILLE

Was/is/whatever Hot 98.1 a good sounding Rhythmic station? I know nothing about them, but always found the on-air image cheap sounding and very low-budget. Sorry to be so harsh, but it just did, to me at least. If it's going to come back, I hope they improve it.

"Hot 98.1 is dead"... Please... DON'T FALL FOR IT! This is just another station pulling a page from the old bait and switch book... Guaranteed the big announcement will be "We're dead... Dead serious on giving away $1 million" or something corny like that...

Meanwhile, I hear the top country station there airing liners that they're "going Urban" - is Keith Urban coming to town? Same shtick, please, don't fall for it, folks.

Hey, if it works this well with "seasoned industry veterans" then you know it works with listeners. Surely none of you believe this crap?

The River. hahaha. Blah.

It's the new transmitter, as I predicted, and more promotions & new sweepers.

Still the "new" Hot 98.1. [EDIT]

[EDIT-inflammatory]

Relaunch of "Hot 98.1" - sounds like they're firing up the new CP tower... and they're "dead serious" about giving away $25k.... otherwise, not much change, I don't think.

The new VO is much more exciting than the old one. People who have trouble east and south of Greeville should notice a difference if the engineering is complete? I assume that it all happened at the same time.

The signal has greatly improved, I can tell they're using the new CP....the station does sound much, much better. I hate, though, how Cox calls everything "NEW" for so long! I can see it for a while, but for years?

They may be using a new processor or something to make it seem they are louder... but they aren't using the CP at the 107.3 tower. It was canceled August 31, 2007 by the FCC. You have three years to build out a CP and their time was up.

I think that in this case, the word "New" refers not to the station, but rather to the music. They continue calling it "New" because the music is still new, even if the station has been around for a while.
