98.7 is never going to make it

I said this jokingly in another post, but I remember being on 1010 and our phones were always lit up, granted some of us were too, but we ALWAYS had packed phones, great guests and a great public presence, but on that note, 1/2 of our shows were live b'casts.... Idk - I think it CAN work, just need someone in there who can run the ship and not just patch the holes in the hull...

With all due respect, if that was the case, why weren't there any ratings to speak of?

Because Arbitron is a joke...

Funny how that's always the answer from the guys at the bottom of the list

Funny how it's always the automated corporate stations at the top of the list... you know, the stations that only have a handful of PT minimum wage employees. Parttimer indeed... Oh well, I remember those days. ;D That's why I quit working in corporate radio, and started working for myself. Believe me, when I worked at big corporate stations that subscribed to Arbitron, I thought it was a joke then too... I guess we'll have to agree to disagree...

We're talking about 1010, which is owned by CBS. How exactly does that fit into your theory?

Yes - yes it was.

Thank you for this laugh. I'm sorry you couldn't see my sarcasm. The Sports Explosion was an embarrassing to anyone who called themselves a broadcaster or radio fan. I know they got Bobby Fenton and a couple other actual radio hosts to say their name once or twice but just about everything attached to the name The Sports Explosion was a joke. They weren't sports guys who didn't know radio or radio guys who didn't know sports, they were salesmen who didn't belong anywhere near a microphone or board. For people who are actually passionate about this business hearing hacks like the Sports Explosion is a slap in the face. That Jeremy kid may have been the worst of the worst but at least his leaving the rest of you hanging left the rest of us in a better place. Not having to hear that ridiculous excuse for radio on the air ever again.
