98.7 Simon--- the Triad's version of Jack-FM?

Audiovault? I would lean toward the Middle Earth people and their ability to alter time, space and dimension and insert Oldies 93 references into Simon's usual programming. Of course, we all know that it was the Middle Earth people who started Audiovault, and this was predicted by the sages years ago. ;D
??? You guys have been watching too much "Stargate"

So, when did Entercom change to AudioVault? They were using Scott Studios for years!
I'm with you..Where did AudioVault come from? I though it was Scott also!

What do you think the "Powers" would gain by inserting these little innuendos? I can't see any gain...APE!

Audiovault/Scott Studios/chickenwire on a string it don't make no difference if the Middle Earth people are behind it, it won't be stopped! ;)

OK OK OK...sorry. I don't know what they use. Audiovault was the only one I could think of. Middle earth??? Innuendo????? I'm goin' back to bed.

I agree there is nothing to be gained by Simon for teasing anything about Oldies 93. Had to be a computer glitch and I restate my belief that anytime you change format - or even make major imaging changes, you should start with a clean hard drive - at least delete the old stuff and then defrag the drive!

??? Why in the world would Simon be using a computer from "Oldies 93"?

But if Oldies 93 is gone gone gone, then what harm does it mean to lure their former listeners by mentioning them?

I just don't understand.......not that it's that important anyways..... :)

APE, if you understood how digital audio works you wouldn't ask the question. But since you don't, I will try to explain.

First, they are in the same building with a hand full of stations (one of which used to be Oldies 93).

Second, most clusters that used digital automation for music, commercials, etc, use a central server that feeds workstations in each studio.

Since computers often have a mind of their own, it is very easy for file tags to become corrupt and to combine two old fragments of audio into one. The TOC (Table Of Contents) of Scott Studios is susceptible to the problem if you don't do the proper housekppeing. Could also have been a typo in some programming instructions (ie: operator error).

I'd think that they would have been "corrupted" on purpose by whoever made up that promo, but maybe that would be giving Entercom too much credit or something like that.....

Don't really appreciate you telling me what I know and don't know, I don't think you know me, maybe you do.. Yeah, I'm ancient, but I probably was running commericials on PR-19's when you were in diapers!

Your explanation is plasuable, but perhaps were were better off (I know So) with ITC cart machines... BIG APE!

Xtalker:

The thing played again yesterday and this is not verbatim, but it went like this:

"Oldies 93 (jingle cuts off, vo guy comes in) 98.7 Simon. Playing oldies because you miss them!"

Given the more detailed script of the promo, I believe it is intentional. The earlier description would lead you to believe it was a mistake.

Ape, you asked the question about using a computer that Oldies 93 had used. I simply provided the answer - certainly not meant to offend - but to inform!
