98.7 WKFY Predictions

Now that we know what is going on with WHYA, WFRQ, and WPXC, I had came up with some predictions for Codcomm's possible next project WKFY. WHYA is going to be CHR, WFRQ is a Variety station, and WPXC is a Rock/Classic Rock station, but what format can we expect for WKFY? What I find interesting about WFRQ ''Frank FM'' after the sale with Codcomm, when they discontinued themed weekends, Frank FM had also began focusing less on the 60's and 70's music, it made me wonder, since their playing less Oldies/Classic Hits on Frank, Do you think that Codcomm might use that Format on WKFY?

Not sure but what kind of power will they have? Looked
up on yahoo and got some kind of FCC actions page
from Dec said they're lic to E Harwich I think...what
format hole exists on Cape?

Yeah, I think their licensed in East Harwich, but I think their transmitter is going to be located in South Chatham. The only format holes on the cape I can think of is AAA (since WMVY is now WBUA), Oldies (60's, 70's disco/dance/etc.), maybe News.

Yes, but WAZK Nantucket just got a Construction Permit to increase power to 6000 watts which would cover the Chatham area very well. I predict that WAZK will market the AAA format to the Vineyard and the south coast of the Cape in addition to Nantucket.

Oldies is also covered by WGTX 102.3 in Truro, although the station does not cover the Hyannis area very well so Oldies could be a possibility. News and Sports already taken. Just what we need - more stations on Cape Cod.

If I owned the station, it would be "98.7 The Bluff, Cape Cods' Home for Smooth Jazz".... Keep it live and local as much as possible, work with the Cape Cod Melody Tent for concerts in the summer, then starve all winter and run it from a computer in the garage.

I guess Oldies wouldn't be a format hole either. I do like the Smooth Jazz station idea, it's a very good one, even the brand name sounds very creative.

That is a very good prediction, I've been able to pick up WAZK in Hyannis, although its reception isnt great on that part of the cape, but when I'm in Sandwich or Bourne I'm not able to pick it up because of the interference with WKAF in Brockton. So AAA isn't a format hole.

What about the WUMB repeaters? Their signals sound pretty strong all over the Cape. Aren't they AAA now?

WUMB is a AAA/Folk format...so it wouldn't exactly be a format hole on the Cape either.

When Codcomm launches WKFY, I was thinking that their focus might be on the older audience, since they had launched WHYA, Y101, which tagets the younger audience on the cape. Does anyone have any thoughts?

We'll find out Monday morning... Coffee 98.7 will launch, and is promising something not heard on the radio dial or on a stream.

Perhaps a singer-songwriter/acoustic format, like Sirius XM's "The Coffee House"?

Any word on streaming? If not, do we have people on this board who are in range of the signal and can tell us what the format turns out to be?

No stream, but they're looping Patti Page's "Old Cape Cod" this weekend. They're aiming for the 50+ listener.

This sounds interesting:

In a press release, general manager Tim Levesque said Koffee 98.7 will feature a mix of “oldies, classic album cuts and modern artists loved by older listeners,” including Adele, Michael Buble, Bruno Mars and Adam Levine.

Let's See Koffee 98.7, the station that people listen to during coffee break? nah poor TSL.
Will there be any cream in this coffee? With, or without the best Mix?
I'm predicting light R and B. Coffee can be a stimulant.
If it was Meth 98.7 it could be active rock, or country
