98.9 KNUC rebrands as "98.9 The Bull"

I wonder if this means that they'll change their call letters again...this is almost becoming as frequent as the call changes on 1090, after KING signed off.

KJRB 790 Spokane switched from News/Talk to a Classic Rock format via a translator "94.1 The Bear" not long ago. Heavy on the Godsmack and Foo Fighters, less so on The Who and Led Zeppelin.

But really, do we need anymore copycat brands? As if average listeners are still chained to local terrestrial radio and haven't seen all the Bull/Bear/Wolf/Fox, etc. stations with similar logos in other places on their TuneIn or iHeart apps and wondered "WTF?"

On the infinite dial, it's better to be original. And nothing beats a good strong set of call letters.

I'm aware of KJRB -- was listening to it nightly for a while until MW/AM conditions changed.... The other Bear I listen to is in Merced, 1660 AM.

As for slogans, I wonder if the average listener cares that much... They probably like the fact that a station has a short name that isn't call letters. The fact there is another one 200 miles down the road probably means nothing to them.
