heard some weird sweepers and different music, or am i hearing things?

a masterpiece; an eclectic mix of contemporary hip hop, pop & rock or it's pig vommit. are they bringing back keke and doughboy?

Yes. It has flipped to "Music for Generation X," like its sister station in Baton Rouge. It's also not unlike Clear Channel's "Gen X Radio" format they're running in Louisville, Tulsa and Albany, GA.

lol didnt we already have this station? 94.1? Before it flipped.

yes it reminds me completely the Louisville station. Musically it's better than 94.1 was. Many things about 94.1 just annoyed me. It was like it never really knew what it wanted to be.

I hear the Cranberries right now. Lets see how long before we hear it again. If the rotation isn't so tight it is played out in about a week it definitely could work. The music is more "fun" and upbeat. Fits well in between 100 and 107.5. Hopefully we wont be hearing It's raining men and Upside Down over and over.

I'm not sure how many times a day I can take Hootie and the Blowfish though.

We are only a few hours away from April the 1st.

I'm 37 and there are quite a few songs I really like sprinkled in between a bunch of songs I hate.

I sure hope they work on the processing.
It sounds bad. Very muddy, dull, and just over driven sounding.
I hear some compression which would be wonderful if the audio quality was just better overall. You don't hear much compression with all the pegged out digital processing in place today.
I'm sure I'm jumping on someones case way to quickly. Adjusting the processing could take several days fine tune.

I agree with your first listen analysis...but I'm still trying to get the Snoop Dogg to Stone Temple Pilots transition out of my head.

Actually, I'm enjoying the music they're playing...just 90s tunes...I like the idea and umm Not gonna like, i wish i was on air there haha...did i just say that?...oh i think i did. Anyway, hopefully this format stays around for a while.

I like most of it. It will be a love/hate relationship for me. I just can't take the Counting Crows, DMB, and Hootie every 3 or 4 songs. Oh and the overload of Backstreet Boys (not so cool in 2010).

Lots of stuff that you don't hear anywhere else in the play list though.

my favorite part is when they promote commercial "free" and then go to the remote at goodwill in millington for a "commercial". that's brilliant, i wonder if the listener will notice?

Yeah, its kinda like the classic rock of very late 80s-90s. I doubt the Backstreet Boys will be around long term. They will head the same fate as Poison and The New Kids on the Block. Though, I'm scared those two might show up. eek!

Doesn't eveybody realize what is today's date, April 1st. April FOOLS Day. If so, it fooled a lot of people here.

Right, but it's still a popular day for format changes. I remember when 96X fans thought the oldies station was an april fools joke on 4/1/99. But it turned to be more permanent when it stuck around until the flip to gospel.

However, this could be a 24-hour teaser until the "real' format takes place, but unlikely. I think Kim has a nail in her coffin.

What is the new station calling itself by that matter?

Yeah and is there a website for this station? Got the stream from the old "Kim" website, but all stations from Citadel have websites, so anyone know what the one for this station is?

they are doing 'Snap Gen X'...... doesn't anyone realize that rhythmic stuff, mixed with rock, mixed with pop...in Memphis... is DEATH!!!!! "Idiots...I'm surrounded by idiots".

Overall I like it fairly well, but I could do without about 80% of the hip hop. Right now it feels like it's 50% of the playlist even though I know it's not. Boyz II Men transitioning into Nirvana just doesn't sit well. And I could happily live out my life without ever hearing Bil Bev Devoe again.
