99.3 Kiss FM Switching?

99.3 Kiss fm is now playing a promo at the Top of each hour saying 2008 thru 2002, it's coming back. Which I think means 99.3 The Buzz may possibly be coming back? Also, every promo now just says 99.3 than statics out the Kiss FM part.

Any thoughts?

Maybe they will make 95.1 WAYV, South Jersey's #1 Hit Music Station again and make 99.3 WZBZ, The Buzz - Hip Hop/R&B.

Kind of like the idea... 95.1 and 99.3 sound almost identical currently.

The original buzz would be great but I think they will go urban the voice imaging is the same guy as when they were urban. What's the point calling your self south jersey's number 1 hit music station when majority of playlist is hip hop. When you play billboard 100 songs then you can claim yourself south jersey's number 1 hit music station. I kept laughing everytime i would here them call them self south jersey's number 1 hit music station, clearley they never been. wayv 95.1 would have made sense calling themself south jersey's number 1 hit music station. I doubt if they go dance. I have noticed that wwac 102.7 have been playing more dance songs recently. I hope they continue to add more dance songs.

AYV and Kiss don't exactly sound identical. WAYV is CHR (some of their older material still says Hot AC but they have been CHR since at least late 2010). Kiss is currently Rhythmic CHR/Hip Hop, again since at least 2010 or 2011, and plays a lot more rap artists that AYV won't touch. 99.3 doesn't play Adele, or Taylor Swift, etc. like AYV does.

Likely they are going back to "The Buzz" name because Kiss' format switched back to the Buzz format and the "Kiss" name is more often than not these days used on CHR stations. Notice they never changed the call letters from WZBZ, which I believe were vanity calls because they sound like "buzz."

Me too didn't see the point in switching brand names either what a joke. They been playing rap & r&b most of the time.

Did Kiss ever have a local airstaff?
I recorded an aircheck for a guy around 4PM on a friday last year sometime and there was no airstaff.
I was like what?

No airstaff since June 2008

There are contests on their Facebook page and on their Web site, primarily for concert tickets. I see the van out occasionally on its own but usually in tandem with either WAYV or WTTH for things sponsored by Equity in general and not one specific station. The armed forces parade in AC last summer comes to mind for instance.

I'm ready for The Buzz to come back. I just listened to their tophour.com old Legal ID's and it sounded like a good Hip-Hop station. I bet the only thing they're waiting on at this point is the imaging. If they were smart, I would take out all of the dance/pop stuff and pass it to WAYV and focus on the Hip-Hop & R&B only on Buzz.

95.1 WAYV is now calling themselves 'South Jersey's #1 Hit Music Station' when the Dj's break in and talk. Promo's still say Today's Best Music.

It'll be interesting to see if 99.3 actually introduces staff like when it was The Buzz.

I don't think they will go with old imaging because wouldn't they have to track down that voiceover guy and re-sign contracts with him? I'd think they'd rather want to start fresh than use 5 + year-old imaging. At least, that's what I'd do if I was a program director in this case.

The current voiceover guy is the same one that they had from 2002 - 2008

Here's the million dollar question....will they go back simulcasting on 105.5 and resurrect the WGBZ calls?
