A Matter of opinion and certainly biased by the locals.

Some, not many, thanks to deregualtion and consolidation and lowpay.

Garrett has been informed about radio, and knows the media probably as well as you,if not more than you.He is just like newspaper media reporters or those on All Access,Radio and Records,Billboard magazine.Would you hold them up to not knowing what they speak of?

One gets the impression, you are still a"newbie"with 5 or 4 years of experience mostly on the PT time level or "on the beach and bitter".

All Garrett does here is put forth the topic for Lubbock when no one else will and offers opinion.Skip over his post so you will avoid a self induced migraine if it offends you. Garrett don't let little minnows like this get to you.

Re: OK, ENOUGH ALREADY ,AIN'T IT THE TRUTH!!!!!!

I kind of like how you pick each line apart. Unfortunately you use the stock answers and excuses. The talentless love to quote "deregulation and low-pay" as the reason they are not employed. Even then, I will honor my post script. If more people want this to be a little forum where the unknowledable throw stones from the outside, rather than news from the inside, I'll go away. I checked in on this ignorance for many moons before I couldn't take it anymore. With the level of opinion I'm seeing on these pages now, I'd be happy to bail.

Sorry the "stock answers "were nothing of the sort. They were responses from one who has been in the industry and all facets of it for many years.Your dismissive attitude inregards to them undelines what is wrong with radio today.

The talentless love

As Sgt JoeFridayonce said "Just the facts"and they are.

Tell me,do you work for the NSA? Can you tell what is information from the "inside"as opposed to "outside"?Do you work for all the stations, cluster ownership and know all personalities on and off air?If not how can you state someone's information is only"outside and borders on hearsay?

I checked in on this

Ignorance is one thing and I wouldn't be so dismissive in that arena if I was in your position. Again judging from your syntax, you have not been in the business very long and one or two gigs does not make a career professional. You have a long way to go,before anything that has been discussed starts to sink in. I wish you well, but if you wish to chastise Garrett,it will place emphasis on your own inability to have an open discussion.

You were a board-op right Garrett? Wow, must have made very important decisions. Talent don't want to be identified by name because most of the companies in town don't want their talent posting for obvious reasons.

I agree that there are plenty of people in Lubbock that could, have worked or would work in bigger markets if they didn't have their reasons (family, retirement etc) keeping them here.

Do you live in Lubbock Garrett? If you do apply for a job and I doubt any PD in town would hire you. It's about having pride in your job and not bad mouthing people "cause I know better". Show us that you have a job in radio doing what we all love to do and we'll respect you.

Otherwise...

sit in your lazy boy listen to the radio and dream!

Good grief. Lay off him. He is entitled to his opinion. Christ are you and reaper Bill O'Reilly fans where dissenting opinions are not allowed? And you claim to be a broadcaster? Good grief.

Re: OK, ENOUGH ALREADY ,AIN'T IT THE TRUTH!!!!!!

At least Garrett keeps conversations going about Lubbock. I guess I shouldn't be posting here either then since I have been out of Lubbock radio for almost 5 years now. I guess that makes me a poser too. Garrett keep on posting.

Re: OK, ENOUGH ALREADY ,AIN'T IT THE TRUTH!!!!!!

Okay, I can see the thread here. You guys keep on critiquing radio, I'll go back to running radio stations. Sorry you haven't found employment that is suitable for your amazing talents.

You go and run those radio stations, they could likely use the attention since you waste so much time posting drivel on here.

You GO GARRETT!

> Good grief. Lay off him. He is entitled to his opinion.
> Christ are you and reaper Bill O'Reilly fans where

Actually I am more a Keith Olberman fan myself.

But when did we claim to be fair and balanced? We are trying to do our jobs daily. Remember the fairness doctrine is DEAD. We should be helping make our careers and networks better than sit here and just piss and moan because we're not in radio anymore.

There is dissenting opinions from people who actually have management experience and those who do not.

Does Garrett have a job in Radio? No. Did he ? At one time yes. Do you want the guy whose wanted to be a mechanic all his life and turned a wrench twice work on your corvette? Or do you want a trained mechanic, someone who is specialized in corvettes?

I want the expert. Not the wet behind the ears grease monkey who I would fear hearing the words "oops" from.

In all seriousness Garrett does make some valid points 30% of the time when he is not telling people how his opinion is right.

Facts:

Lubbock does need a Alternative to fill the only hole left.

Ramar is a non entity in the market because they never stay with anything for any length of time (Hello Kiss, Hello Estereo Latina).

Nobody knows what the hell is happening at wilkes because nobody cares over at wilkes cause their all waiting for more people to leave.

Clear Channel is collecting all the retirement home veterans for their airstaff.

And with my San Antonio Spurs leading the Western Conference of the NBA nobody will pick them up for me to hear.

I think that if we all cool our jets and give Garrett a chance and not go completely off on him, he could contribute something that isn't equal to

"You want fries with that."

I think...
LOL

Correction: Shouldn't that read "ruining"not "running radio stations?
Your powers of ASSUMMING that posters here who dare to disagree with you"don't work"is something you should work on. I Imagine in one book I could beat any station you are in charge of,just using"students" as long as you continue in your line of thinking.

Re: You GO GARRETT!

It's not me my friend... I just tuned in to check the drama surrounding 97.3. Since that launch is apparently the worst kept secret since the launch of 104.9, I knew there would be some.

I wasn't even reading this thread until I scrolled down and saw radioezp was in on it.

But as far as your opinions go - let 'er rip. I don't think people in Dallas (or anywhere else for that matter) are too concerned about Lubbock radio. Unless they've lived there, or have family there they probably care about as much as I care about the incessant Tyler-Longview threads. I don't think anything you say could "embarass" the Lubbock radio community in front of the big boys - because the big boys just aren't reading this.
