99 X can't break a 2.0 share

99.7 on the dial hasn't been a ratings player since Power 99 was done away with.

That might be the most IGNORANT thing I've ever seen written here.

99X never topped 96 Rock in the mornings. That is a fact.

BRING BACK POWER 99!!!!

Remind me again which book it was that 96 Rock ran a bunch of test shows, including John Boy and Billy? I'm sure those numbers were awesome.

I found a few old tapes of Power 99 recently. Holy crap, that stuff was awful. (Not so bad in its first couple of years, but, wow, did it get terrible.)

September 96 or 97. Can't recall.

I went digging around - turns out you were right. September 1997. What I didn't realize is that John Boy & Billy were on for six months. I could have sworn it was like two weeks.

I also found out that 99x was #1 in morning drive during that winter book. Hmm.

Yeah, okay.

I have to think they were winning before the change also or they would not have blown Rude out?

I enjoyed listening the Morning X of Barnes,Leslie & Jimmy. I would flip between them & The Rude Show. Sometimes,I listen to The Greaseman also for the three years he was here. What the hell was 99X thinking letting Toucher take over the morning show? I couldnot stand him when he took over evenings from Axel.

Sirius recently started a channel called Lithium 24 & it plays 90s alternative & grunge. It reminds me of what 99X use to be. Lithium even plays songs that are no longer heard on 99X.

People forget that during the 1990s & begin of 2000s, 96Rock was playing some of the new rock that 99X was playing.

Well, some people have TRIED to forget.

Looks like that party won't be starting anytime soon. But it's just a trend and they dont care about 12+ and....blah blah blah. And I'm sure Deadman will write in and say that the new morning show is #1 in the latest trend.

It's a trend beef... why don't you go F(ilet) yourself?

Wait a minute, so were the numbers you quoted at the beginning of this thread! You were quoting numbers from phase 1 of this trend on how great 99X was. You were also the person who said Project was an early Christmas present for 99X and that 99X was gonna rebound now. If your gonna say it, own it! :)

Deadman, very hurtful words my F(riend). So, when I'm right you become hostile. Not very evolved of you. I posed a very obvious question. What has happened to that radio station? They can't break a 2.0 share. Of course, someone will point out they are billing well. It's a little ahrd to conceive (and quite fallacious to say) they are billing as well as they would be if they were in the 3's when they had a different morning show and a different Program Director and a different GM. But there is that big 3rd trend coming where the power of the morning X (currently unopposed by anyone in the genre by the way and still floundering) will heal all that ails 99X. Axel will suddenly become relevant, Decker will be, uhhh, less self-referential and obtain a smidgen of coherence and, umm, yup, Atlanta will be again dominated by good ol' 1.7 share 99X. Because, y'know, 12+ really doesnt indicate anything.

12+ does not matter. But to measure success, you have to dominate a demo. 99X has to be called an ongoing ratings failure and (at best) a cult favorite.
