I think W255CJ actually sounds better than WNNX (Analog). WNNX-HD sounds great. There are no sub channels to hog the bandwidth and lower the bit rate of the sound quality.Does W255CJ sound different than WNNX over the air?

I know what you mean. They have two streams, the other one with that different station logo sounding a bit different processing wise than the 100.5 stream who have the original 99X logo. But I try both streams I don't hear any difference anymore? Maybe you know what the processed feed is is now? They have two streams. The 100.5 stream. which has more of a processed sound. And the WWWQ HD2 stream which does not. The one on the website points to the WWWQ HD2 stream, or was for awhile.
WMKP is a LPFM on 98.9 in Oakwood. Not sure who has the "right of way" between a translator and a LPFM.What Cumulus ought to do is move the 98.9 MHz translator to the NE part of the Metro where 100.5 suffers from reception issues. This would give the 99X brand darn near full market coverage.
Whoever is there first has right of way between a translator and LPFM.WMKP is a LPFM on 98.9 in Oakwood. Not sure who has the "right of way" between a translator and a LPFM.
There's also WNGH, a class C3 out of Chatsworth in NW GA. Might be far enough away to not matter.
There's also WPCZ, another LPFM on 98.7 in Demorest.
Of course, the WDEN folks out of Macon would be cheering the move.
I guess the most logical place to put it would be on top of the Chateau Elan tower that River (and TOSOTR) use.
Regarding second-adjacents, you'd be moving away from B98.5 but closer to WCON on 99.3 out of Cornelia.
I forgot to add Steve Barnes is telling fans this on the 99X facebook post.Okay, I'm actually kinda jealous by some of the picks for Organic X.
NO ONE commercially plays Gorillaz' best record anymore. I want 91X to play On Melancholy Hill again![]()
Not sure the introduction of "new rock" is a good idea. It's failed both times when tried in Atlanta, rather spectacularly. The core audience is reacting to the current mix, which is 70's-90's "alt rock" and new wave. What passes for "new rock" is a different beast altogether. It may be ok to feature it in a specialty show, but not as part of the regular playlist.I forgot to add Steve Barnes is telling fans this on the 99X facebook post.
Once they execute the Local X and new music adds mixed with the old songs, I think they’re probably gonna have a better execution of the classic/new music mix than 91X. The ratings are already showing that so far (while 91X sadly went from 3.0 or whatever last year after XYZ but are now back to 1.9).

Out of curiosity, what do you mean by "new music"? To be "testable" the conventional wisdom is that a listener has to have heard a song, anywhere, about 8 to 10 times to have an emotional opinion. That used to mean about 3 to 4 weeks when radio did not have online competition. Today, with streaming, that is an unproven benchmark but we can still say that it takes considerable time after a song's release to be able to get a definitive test score.Very little of it will be played if they do. They already have new music on Organic X. You may hear one new song every few hours, and it has to test very well. Not just any new song. This is not unusual for formats like this.

Understood. "Inside the building" we consider "new music" to be the newest releases, either not yet on the air or just entering the playlist in the new song category where it will play until we see if it tests, gets new media support or does not test and is dropped before moving into a "current" category.Currents. Possibly recurrents. Maybe new music by a well known band in the format.
