990am not paying jocks

The Sportsfan 990 isn't paying their talk show hosts.

The checks that have been given after they were demanded are bouncing.

I would be really surprised if someone posted talking about the good check that they got from 990. It seems that 990 has always had this type of problem.

Agreed... This seems to be the norm for 990.

Radio is a business before it can be anything else.
However, if people do the job, they really should be paid...

On the other hand, what is the job?
Is it to get better ratings? Is that happening?

I guess the basic pay for being a body in the building should still be respected, but any bonuses (if promised) should only be valid when ratings actually increase.

ratings bonuses...yes, I understand those not being paid...but we're talking about people's salaries. No one has been paid by Sports Fan 990 in MONTHS!!!! not a dime. and when checks are issued...you can't cash them because there is no money in the bank. Note: To knowingly issue a bad check...FELONY

So who holds the license for 990 now? I heard that some Tom dude was buying the time, but I'm not sure if that's true or not. And whatever happened with DAve Scum? The 990 signal seems to be one that noone with any money waqnts. Surely there's someone with some cash that could benefit from a good Dallas signal.

It's a really sad situation, since the internal strife that has plagued the station through its various incarnations (KFCD, KMSR, KCAF) hasn't gone away. It would take someone with a lot of money and dedication, someone with real radio expertise to make it work. I have to disagree with you, though, about it being a "good Dallas signal."

Regardless of how it looks on paper 990's coverage, day or night, just isn't that great overall and it never has been. It was extremely difficult to get it into specs before the station officially hit the air, and the problems didn't go away. Pattern distortion was occurring, apparently due to underground pipelines in the area. So the tower radial system had be doctored to minimize interference toward another 990 in Beaumont and 980 in Shreveport. That didn't really do anything to improve the station's coverage in the Dallas area, but it kept them legal.

I always believed that Farmersville was the wrong choice for a community of license when the station was moved from Wichita Falls. While it wouldn't have been easy to engineer, having a Dallas County transmitter site could have given them much better coverage, especially at night. The problem, though, is that other station upgrades in the past few years would make it much tougher to do it now.

I remember a time when radio broadcasting was a public trust...
Now it's more like a real-estate speculation scam. 990 should never have moved from Wichita Falls. Back before Reagan, there were ownership limits. You had to own a station for three years before you could sell. You had to show the ability to pay the bills with no income for a period of time. You couldn't even change formats without modifying your license.
And you had to be of good moral charactor, (whatever that means)...
And you couldn't be on the radio if you didn't know morris code... and Hertz was cycles, cause that's what it was.... oh, wait. We already did that rant.

This reminds me about similar circumstances with the former Wilmer-Hutchins school district. Teachers were not getting paid, and the TEA shut down the district.

MORRIS CODE.. What frigging planet did you evolve from..Obviously you never had a FCC license as in First Phone.. Try..MORSE CODE! Samuel Morse is rolling over in his grave! BIG APE!

Gee, ape, it's a joke. Lighten up.
Yes, Samuel Morse, developer of Morse code.
In a previous spoof posting, I spelled it Morris, also in jest.
Are you so thick you need a :D or a ;) or a :p to get it?

KFCD now belongs to Principal Broadcasting out of New York. That company is wholly-owned by Mercury Capital Partners..........a super-solid group. They broker time on all of their Princiapal stations.

Principle and its parent company are certainly qualified, but I haven't seen anything about FCC approval or consummation of the deal. Are you saying the takeover has, in fact, taken place?
