A change to 104.1 Mobile

will the online stream of 104.1 reflect any of the changes at midnight? or we will hear the jack stream they may keep online?

radio insight just tweeted about a leak for the new logo of 104.1

I'll be recording both WABB and WABD for the next hour, so regardless of what happens online I'll have the off air feed covered. Assuming no snafus. I'm trying something new with 104.1 that involves recording a software radio's output with the input of the soundcard. I just need to stay off the web browser now because it's causing the audio to drop out!

If indeed 104.1 to flip to CHR as "104.1 WABD", then what's the point of WABB signing off? They are basically moving the station and dj's, and music to 104.1. So, in other words- WABB is not "dead". It's just not on the 97.5FM dial. Y'all might hate me saying this, whatever - that's fine but it's time to start a new and fresh CHR station on the Mobile/P'cola radio dial - and it could just be very well on 104.1. It will take time, sure but people will just be confused when they tune in to 104.1 tomorrow morning and here the words "WABD (if that's what they do call themselves)." WABB is keeping this casual and they are doing a good job at it. But then again, WABB's Facebook Page say's "Gulf Coast, We'll Miss You."...so I don't know what's going to happen except K-Love will launch and a CHR station owned by Cumulus will launch very soon.

I'll post the links as soon as they're uploaded. I've got six hours of WABB-FM and may give it a quick listen to pare down anything that may be repetitive; WABD will only be about 30 minutes, scoped.

I'm listening to 104.1 now and they dropped all the Jack FM references over the last few breaks and it was just blank air between songs until just now. No local commercials, either, just network breaks. At 11:31 they went to a bell tolling.

wonder if any of the domains cumulus registered will be going live before midnight? so far they are all parked.

the 104.1 stream online now has the wabd calls in the player, along with the slogan the gulf coast's hit music station. all it has been the past 3 minutes has been church bells.

104.1 is simply chiming... They could have done anything they wanted till midnight, but they choose to chime a bell for WABB

And we have 104.1 WABD - first song, LMFAO's "Party Rock Anthem." I certainly don't blame them, but it almost seems a bit tasteless after WABB's signoff and emotional tribute broadcast.

As an aside to this whole thing, I did a bandscan with a third radio right after midnight to check on 107.3 and everyone else… and WKSJ is off the air. But the HD on. It's really weird hearing static blend into dead quiet. The HD-2 (classic country) is playing along like nothing is wrong.

Did the EMF guy trip over KSJ's power plug on his rush back to the Sleep Inn? ;D

I certainly hope so, or that they land elsewhere. Haven't heard Q-Tip, but I hear good things...I have heard Blondie, and she's a really good talent. I wish them both luck.

So far WABD sounds a little...generic. Let's see if they step things up in the coming weeks/months.

This is awful - Sorry.

It sounds EXACTLY like i100 - The imaging sucks, it sounds cheap and this station is going to be a complete failure.

As far as the imaging.. it is good but it sucks because it is EXACTLY the same voice and production as i100 (which is now Journey)

Cumulus will be moromns if they don't bring in some of the old WABB talent.

They also need LOCAL mix shows on the weekends.... there is so much that they can do for CHEAP that could separate them from 107.3 but for god's sake they sound exactly like i100 - in fact I just heard a Chris Daughtry concert promo that had a damn Q-100 promo in there instead of 104/.1 WABD program.

THIS IS DAMN JOKE.

First hour on WABD The Gulf Coast's Hit Music Station (http://jack104online.com/graphics/1041_logo.jpg) starting shortly after Midnight CST on 3/1/12:

LMFAO - Party Rock Anthem
Dev - In The Dark
Flo Rida - Good Feeling
Usher - OMG
Adele - Set Fire To The Rain
Jason Derulo - In My Head
Katy Perry - The One That Got Away
Gym Class Heroes Feat. Adam Levine - Stereo Hearts
Pitbull feat. Chris Brown - International Love
Lil Wayne feat. Static Major - Lollipop
Selena Gomez + The Scene - Love You Like A Love Song
Bruno Mars - It Will Rain
Jessie J - Domino
Daughtry Concert Contest Announcement
Daughtry - It's Not Over
P!nk - Perfect
Welcomes all the 97.5 listeners to the Gulf Coast's Hit Music Station
Hot Chelle Rae - Tonight Tonight
TOH ID with Welcome announcement
Gym Class Heroes feat. Neon Hitch - Self Back Home

The hour ran commercial free.

From what I've heard from most people, this playlist is typical of a Cumulus CHR - recurrent driven and not too "hard".

A lot of people are taking the bait on WABB's still active Facebook page. Some former 97.5ers *could* find work at WABD, but there's no way I'd bet money on it. Remember the corporate entity that we're dealing with--they will happily follow their CHR formula.

Somewhere, a Cumulus exec is rubbing his or her hands: "Mobile will have its i-station, even if we have to dress it with some familiar clothes we jacked (no pun intended) from the cool kid who just croaked. And there's nothing anyone can do about it! Bwahahahahahaha!"

(And yes, I heard that Q100 liner. Embarrassing. If the K-Love folks could launch their turn-key format without a hitch, what's Cumulus' problem?)
