A day in the life of a lamptimer

No it's the IGM instacart cart players with ITC reel to reel machones pulled out of retirement oh and spring reverb on the program line

Nurse Jeff has already won $120 betting unsuspecting KSLX listeners he knows the next song they play. His strategery is simple: listen to Lumberyard 14~Forty and you hear everything played five or six seconds before it's played on 100~Seven. Chalk it up to that nifty H.D. system catfish (with a lower case c) strapped on the KSLX transmitter for the delay. But shhhhhhhhhh....don't share this information with anyone else, or the Nurse will hit me up for a raise. Again.

You are correct on the delay Doc the audio leaving the studios on the analog side has to be delayed for the HD transmitter digital audio, it's that way on all stations with HD on the air. Most stations are running 8 second delay and that increases it even more and KAZG isn't on any type of delay .. the oldies might return today

Memo to Teachers & Students:

Nurse Jeff and I are pleased to learn Lumberyard 14~Forty has kicked the k-slacks simulcast and returned to their 14 in a row, worn out oldies format. Therefore we are canceling all classes at the Media Hut for the balance of the week to allow you to celebrate the Goldminers return to Ancient Modulation.

A tip of the fez to catfish (lower case c) :D

Is it just me, or has the Lumberyard added some songs to the Goldmine rotation? I noticed a couple songs today that I had never heard played on the Lumberyard before, one being everyone's favorite Halloween song, "The Monster Mash" a 1962 hit from Bobby "Boris" Pickett. "Monster Mash" I know has not been in the regular rotation on the Lumberyard. Does anyone know if some songs were added while the system was down? If so, I applaud the move, the same rotation of songs can get old after awhile and it's nice to hear some "fresh" oldies on our favorite station.

Welcome Back Arizona Gold!! ;D

Yes indeedy, ASU Jorge...your ears heard the same thing our four ears did: Bobby Boris Pickett & the Crypt-Kickers on Lumberyard 14~Forty. We've heard a few more blasts from the past as well, but are still waiting for "Little Darlin" by the Diamonds. One thing Nurse Jeff and I can't figure out (okay, there are a lot of things we can't figure out) is why the Goldminers didn't use their time off to freshen the voice tracks. That one that talks about playing worn out oldies from Sunrise to Sunset needs to go away since Gumpdusky bought a xmttr capable of doing 52 watts at night. But rest assured, Kookie is still combing his hair!

Which will happen first? This year's first 100 degree day...OR...the 100,000th viewing of "A Day In The Life of a Lamptimer" ?

Yikes Esteemed Doc of State Route 85, you're right, Bobby "Boris" Pickett must now be in regular rotation as I just heard the "Monster Mash" again played on the ol' Lumberyard at 10:55 P.M. You know, the "Monster Mash" is such a good song, it might just be the next "Kookie" song we hear on 1440. It regretfully gets such little playtime during Halloween, but if it's now on regular rotation at the Goldmine, I might be doing Drac's Translyvania Twist all night long! ;D

Did Bobby "Boris" Pickett have any other hits? ??? ??? 8) :D

Kind of like how the kids in Tucson's TUSD school district get the Thu/Fri of "Rodeo Week" off?

I've got to visit the Lumberyard. It looks like in August I'll be flying from Tennessee to Mesa, just to turn around and ride shotgun in a 1940 Ford hot rod all the way to Louisville, KY and back to Mesa.

How do I find this Lumberyard 1440?

Well, from Mesa you'll be entering the 21st century when you cross into Scottsdale ;) If you're heading up Hayden or Scottsdale Roads, hang a left and continue westbound to past 68th St and look for Ponderosa Lumber on the left side (south). There's a crappy one lane road that parallels the canal and takes you by a bunch of crappy bldgs. But by that time, you'll notice the rusting Tower of Pow-Pow-Power and see the concrete block building housing the Nautel xmttr that cranks out worn out oldies 24/7. Be careful...not only do you have to watch out for RF burns, but scorpions, trailer-trash and overhead power transformers that look like they're leaking PCBs. Don't let Nurse Jeff and me scare you off, a trip to Scottsdale isn't complete until you've seen Lumberyard 14~Forty.

...and don't be surprised if you see a crappy '76 Gremlin with two guys wearing fezes!

Forgot to tell you to hang a left on Thomas Rd. YIKES! Geez...without this revision, you could be singing the Hombres' greatest hit and cursing our names: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QKSQmMlQsgU And if you don't like this version, we've got one by Barney Pip that'll make you curse us even more.

Hey...my mechanic is on that craptastic street. And, at the end there is a pet shelter as well.
