A day in the life of a lamptimer

Do the KAZG Gumpduskys play Sinatra's "Call Me Irresponsible" ?

The several Sinatras I know of in Lumberyard 1440 power rotation are:

My Way
Strangers In The Night
That's Life

Not sure about New York, New York--it might be too recent for the Goldmine.
Perhaps another Lumberyard listener can chime in.

If only the Goldminers would snag Chairmen of the Board's "Give Me Just A Little More Time", but that might get on the turf
of a former Oldies station known for playing a lot of 70's music!

Oh, the Chairmen of the Board, as opposed to the Chairman of the Board. ;)

Former oldies station...lot of '70s music...hmmm. Would that be where they're
doing another '70s Playlist Weekend theme? Except I think I've heard a few
'80s songs snuck in. Is that allowed? And can they also go backwards, too?
I'm thinking we need to hear Brown Eyed Girl some more! ;D

...and don't forget "These Boots R Made 4 Walking" by daughter Nancy. Now how 'bout "Some Velvet Morning" with legendary local Lee Hazelwood opening Nancy's gate?

....featuring Acquanetta as Phaedra and brought to you in living color by Jack Ross Lincoln-Mercury on Lumberyard 14~Forty!

When Art Bell fills in on Coast To Coast UFOs, he uses Velvet as a rejoiner song.

Which reminds me, did the Nearly Bald One have a rejoiner theme yesterday?

And since we're going off in all directions...with KOOL's Tom & Maria apparently on
location out of state, I guess they couldn't be expected to voicetrack the Saturday
afternoon/early evening slots today per usual, so it's PD Kris filling in!

Investigators from the Buckeye Media Hut are on location at Lumberyard 14~Forty to sort out Sunday afternoon's train wreck. Frank Sinatra's Strangers In the Night (a fav of Mrs Gumpdusky) rear-ended Sam & Dave's I'm a Soul Man at full throttle and caused a derailment of Goldminers of massive proportion. As in the case of Apache Junction wannabe KBSZ, there was no separation (jingle, sweeper, commercial, carrier dump, etc) between the two definitely dissimilar songs. Shakira, Al Sharpton and Mayor Philiberto will be joining Los Buckeye Boyz as they try to put the pieces back together.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaaha - excellent!

From the "what took you so long?" department...

Gumpdusky finally rolled back the odometer lamptimer at the Lumberyard.

It got as far as 9:22 late with last night's 7:54:22 PM sign-off (aka ID-less carrier dump),
but tonight KAZG was already off the air at 7:52:45. The Goldmine was still pumping
out the oldies a couple minutes before 7:45, so you do the math, or tune in tomorrow
to see how close they can get to the actual monthly time.

The sign-off time tonight was 7:45 P.M. because when I tuned it at preciously 7:46 P.M., it was already off the air. I was hoping Cactus Radio wouldn't fix the clock till August so we could see a sign-off time of 8:00 P.M. or later! ;D

Apparently the Gumpduskers didn't check the calendar, or don't have one.

Today (July 1, with a 5:30 AM sign-on time), Lumberyard 1440 popped on
the air--without the required legal ID of course ::)--at 5:16:40, which was
the June monthly time, adjusted for the usual lamptimer drift.

Closed circuit for Mrs. Lumberyard: here's a great gift for the Goldminers
and also a reminder of when a month changes, you know, for little things
like sign-on and sign-off times...

Scott Fybush's "Tower Site of the Month" calendar!

The 2011 edition is coming soon, and a limited quantity of this year's is
still available. I'm sure you can find the ordering info so I don't have to
do an even more blatant plug. ;)

By now we've come to expect this as bidniss as usual at Lumberyard 14~Forty. With each new month it takes Gumpdusky at least two days to reset the lamptimer to FCC approved local sunrise and sunset times. This leads Los Buckeye Boyz to wonder what other workplace violations the Goldminers deal with on a daily basis? Perhish the thought that they don't get time off for a Circle K Big Gulp break or are forced to work O.T. in the summer when the shifts are longer (or mgmt fails to reset the lamptimer). If the COL was Phoenix, you can bet Mayor Filiberto would be boycotting along with his buds Al Sharpton, Shakira, Hall & Oates, Raul Grijalva, Pitbull, Kanye West, The FezTones* and other assorted nut cases.

Is it any wonder why "A Day In The Life Of A Lamptimer" just doesn't want to go away?

* not an officially licensed Buckeye Media Hut obscure musical group

Hey Gumpdusky, did the lamptimer finally give it up completely?
Lumberyard 1440 is still on the air at 8:00 PM, with daytime power (5 kw).

Oops, this just in: the carrier was dumped at 8:03:45.

And today the lamptimer didn't kick in until 8:03 P.M. MST and 8 seconds, definitely way past sunset and not normal for the usual 11 second drift. Also, per usual for the Lumberyard, there was no 8:00 P.M. top of the hour legal ID.

What's going on here? Is Sandusky attempting to use some of their post-sunset authorization? ???

Some strange goings-on at the Lumberyard, for sure...especially since last night
it was a run-of-the-mill normal lamptimer drift sign-off at 7:47:52 PM.

Were there two suspicious looking guys in a Gremlin parked outside the XMTR
shack tonight? ;D

Funny you should bring up Thursday night's installment of "A Day In The Life of a Lamptimer" as Nurse Jeff and I noted that late sign off as well. Unless we've gone totally Lindsay Lohan in the brain, the carrier was cut during "I'm a Believer". Fortunately we heard the same song played without interruption on Friday morning - pre Sports Parking Lot 14~Forty programming. That's a quick turn on that nugget, but the Goldminers know how to program the hits for total enjoyment by Los Buckeye Boyz!

Yo, Gumpdusky....

Sunday is August 1st, so you should have pull-lenty of time to reset the lamptimer for the new sign off and sign off times (they being 5:45am and 7:15pm). So when the Goldminers clock out Saturday night at 7:45 and head for the local watering hole, make sure someone changes the lamptimer settings.

Thank you!

Dr Akbar 'n Nurse Jeff

ps - we really like the new younger sounding NFVG doing your liners....he sounds a lot better than that guy with huevos grandes.

Yo, Gumpdusky...

Sunday is August 1st and that means the lamptimer needs to be set accordingly: On @ 5:45am Off @ 7:15pm. So when the goldminers finish their shift Saturday night, make sure the shop foreman takes care of bidness so you're in full compliance with gummit regs.

Thanks

Dr Akbar 'n Nurse Jeff

ps - we really like the younger sounding NFVG and think he should replace the NFVG with huevos grandes.

If the past several top-o-the-months are any indication, Gumpdusky will be a day late
...and if your Media Hut students don't get their tuition in, you'll be a dollar short. ;D

Sports Parking Lot 14~Forty? What sports do they air? Lacrosse? 3A high school volleyball? Maybe even the sports at the middle school near me!?

We Gremlined up to Flag Friday afternoon (Nurse Jeff wants to check out those beefy Cards at practice) and our fezes were blown away as Lumberyard 14~Forty came boomin' in! Must be raining where the goldminers are to cause the ground system to radiate that 5kw of music pow-pow-power 145 miles north of Ponderosa Lumber. Think we should ask the Gumpdusky CE for a QSL card? This has got to be record for the last Valley daytimer!

What's with the old Ampliphase today? (OK, it's a Gates Five, but... ;D)

At 6:25 AM, Lumberyard 1440 appeared to be running at lower power.
Still true approaching 11 AM. Don't know much about science books
if it's the 52 watts nightttime (that catfish with a "c" says the rig can't
get down to), the mysterious PSRA setting, or some other power level,
but the signal is definitely less than normal.

The 7-10 AM jock talk folks ought to demand a rebate from Gumpdusky
for today's weak signal.

BTW, I didn't catch last Sunday morning, but KAZG was still on air at 7:25
Sunday evening, so even with lamptimer drift it appears they again were a
day late resetting for August sign-on/off times.
