A day in the life of a lamptimer

Are the Goldminers an endangered specie at Lumberyard 14~Forty? Brokered talk now accounts for seven hours of the last Valley daytimer's broadcast day and I suspect Gumpdusky is waking up to the potential of this cash cow! While worn out oldies serve to fill the time between sportstalk, restaurant talk and the latest hits from Bollywood, their days are probably numbered. And who knows? If brokered time sales improve, the infamous lamptimer could be replaced and we might be treated to 52 watts of nighttime pow-pow-power! I haven't been this excited since scoring the latest Lady Gag Me CD for 99 cents :p

I certainly hope not Doc. Remember, the Lumberyard has gone down this path before with the coveted 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. time slot (i.e. East Valley Talk Radio and that one "Bandwagon" sports show), but both times, these shows were short-lived and the oldies returned to the time slot. Even if Bollywood music does stick around, we still got non-stop oldies all day Saturday and Sunday. And if this means that someday we can have the Goldmine playing all night long, I'll certainly take it! ;D

Did it take the Lumberyard an extra day to (loosely) conform to the June
sign-on/off times (5:15 AM-7:45 PM)? I haven't listened recently. :-[

The EVT and Bandwagon shows couldn't generate enough revenue for their producers to afford Gumpdusky's brokered time rates. The Positive Side and KimandDon shows do...and I suspect the Bollywood folks have deep pockets. Eventually Lumberyard 14~Forty will hire someone exclusively to market and sell all the air time. Kookie's comb will be retired 'causethere's just no future in Oldies... and playing music on Ancient Modulation :'(

Broken lamptimer? Lumberyard 1440 was still on tonight (Friday 06/24)
until just before 8 PM. Someone finally pulled the plug at about 7:58:33.

This about concludes Chapter 1.

What would the name of this chapter be? Days of our Lamptimer? 8)

Speaking of our beloved Lumberyard, mad props go out to the board op or whoever is controlling the music over at KAZG. Today around 2:05 P.M., we were treated to a KAZG golden nugget from the Goldmine, "Kookie's Mad Pad," a song from the album "Kookie", which, as far as I can tell, never charted. This is reminiscent of a couple years ago when KAZG treated us to a wide-array of Kookie songs. Next up for the Lumberyard could be, "The Kookie Cha Cha Cha", "Kookie's Clock" and "Square Dance for Round Cats."

As Kookie would say, "KAZG, you're the ginchiest!"

On the Engineering board, a thread discusses how the AC power in the US will now be allowed to
be "almost 60 hz" as is now, but short-term running fast or slow to correct for accumulated time error is
going to be eliminated.

The drift error on any synchronous clock will just add up...

They are calling it an experiment...

This makes KAZG 'way out ahead of the pack on this engineering advancement.
It would seem the Goldminers already know how to accomplish this feat.

When the new, drifty-60 cycle power hits the magic lamptimer, will it run closer to, or farther from
suggested times?

Sign on for July 2, 2011 was 5:30:33, music in progress, of course. I heard "Arizona Gold" within one minute, but not station I.D. in the next 10 minutes, at which point I changed stations.

Yesterday (July 1) the Lumberyard was already up and running at 5:22 AM. But they've
been "a day late" for months now. ;)

BTW, the KayFuNNsters were also audible (day power) yesterday at 5:22.

(July daytime = 5:30 AM-7:45 PM)

"You're the Top" is a lot easier to take than "Square Dance.." or "Kookie's Clock".

8) Very Large, Dad.

Ma Belle Amie, I'm in love with the Lamptimer!

Yo, KOOLSLX/KAZG Listener Lauren...

next time you see Mrs Gumpdusky over at the Londen Center, could you ask her to put Walk Away Renee by the Four Tops into Goldmine rotation? Sure beats the distorted and indecipherable Left Bank version. And if Mrs G is in a good mood, tell her Mr G's theme song (My Way) should be given a rest.

Merci beaucoup,

Los Buckeye Boyz

That's "Left BankE"!
In the mid-60s, it was cool to sound like you were from 'over the pond', even if you were actually from New Yahk...or Joisey (Knickerbockers)...or Frisco (Beau Brummels)...or San Antone (Sir Douglas Quintet)...

This morning was a rare treat over at the Lumberyard. Instead of airing the usually weekday morning banter, we were treated to some Goldmine music courtesy of the Lumberyard. It was probably a once in a blue moon thing as usually the "Positive Side" with Roy Garibaldi airs during weekday morning rush hour, but it was nice having those golden oldies on the ride into work. Keep it up KAZG!

At this rate, KAZG will have that 0.2 share in no time! ;D

Hey, ASUGeorge, you're usually the one to catch these! Did you catch TWO surprise Kookie songs today? A total of (at least) four this week! That has to bring it to 0.3 with that and a simple rejuvenation of the playlist.

On another note, do you think a lamptimer can kick on special tunes, because there's almost a Kookie trend, and yet, the time is never the exact same.

And last but not least, what time and day will the Kookie Monster strike again? I could have sworn I heard the winner is to redeem their mystery prize at the Buckeye Media Hut lobby.

No jock talk around 9 AM today either. Just before the TOH, we were "hearing a symphony,"
which was followed by a jingle, the TOH legal ID, a Phil & Don Kim & Don promo, then more
good ol' good ones.

A Jeffmo Bag awaits the grand prize winner when the Kookie Monster makes his next appearance on Lumberyard 14~Forty. Who knows what kind of goodies you'll find in the bag?...anything from a bunch of humbles to a gen-you-wine KAZG bumper sticker! So it may be raining where you are, but when you're at the Buckeye Media Hut it's always a Sunny 97 Day with plenty of worn out oldies playing full blast.
