A day in the life of a lamptimer

Damn...what's it gonna take? Bribing Chuck Artigue to show us the retired lamptimer?

I'm thinking an all-Bruce Kelly format could work on 1440. Definitely at 5KW days, and maybe even making mince meat of other "high-powered" ancient modulation stations with the measly 52w at night. Think about it - 50,000 watt KMIK vs 52 watts of BK at night! Radio Disney can have New Zealand - I'd endure the static on Buckeye for Bruce. Although the hi-fi smooth jazz sounds on 1230 might be some stiff competition. Discuss.

When KZZP was in the process of selling 13~Ten, BK had total control of that East Valley blaster from the Mesa Cemetery. Nurse Jeff and I recall it was "Radio Bruce" on Ancient Modulation all the time. And here's another interesting coincidence: at one time Lumberyard 14~Forty had the KXAM call letters which were the calls of 13~Ten prior to the Gerstens selling the station to IHR. YIKES!

Yikes indeed! (is it 125 where you are yet?)

Congrats on your awesomest accomplishment. As Connie Stevens would say "....Baby, you're the ginchiest"!

As a point of reference, page 100 was reached on 8/28/2011.

Will it be 2015 before we reach page 150?

What if we triple-space our replies?

Quadruple-space?

I may be the only subscriber who has not yet posted on this esteemed topic. So just to make sure I'm relevant, tower lights are nice, paint is no longer required, and I want a Nautel as soon as possible. I once worked on a 50,000 watt AM overnight hitting 27 states. We used a vintage rotary pot board with those big metal side handles to grab in case of panic. It was rumored that one of the jocks got pissed of and pissed in it. Please don't misconstrue any of this as important. I just wanted to appear on 125. Happy New Year to all pros, posers, wannabees, and lurkers - I love y'all!

Wouldn't the next significant page in this thread be Page 144? Or reply #1,440, which will come sooner?

Maybe both will happen at the same time. I think someone can work the math out according to how many posts there are per page. I would, but math was never my strong suit.

hmmmm....not sure the Old Gringo has posted on this one, although it seems he posts on just about every topic in just about every market. But welcome to Lumberyard Life here on page 125, Big Shoe! The Nurse and I thought this stupid thread was over after Gumpdusky installed the Nautel so the Goldminers could go 24/7. But like a bad case of an STD, this one's back with new life! Who knows?...by the time it hits page 14~Forty, Bruce Kelly will be pulling a weekend air shift and Chuck Artique will still be the GM :D

What if I accidentally made it to 126? Would I forever be condemned and banned from the Lumberyard?

I borrowed parts from the old Harris once. Feel the pow-pow-power!

Now you got the Nurse and me thinkin'....what became of not only the retired lamptimer, but the old xmttr as well? Anyone notice oozing oil coming up from the Crosscut canal? Is the lamptimer being used for just that purpose now? And why does catfish use a lower case "c" in his name? There are many remaining mysteries lurking around Lumberyard 14~Forty.

ps - welcome to page 126

ps - welcome to page 126

Why do i use the lower case "c ", cause I can, the old lamptimer is sitting on the desk unplugged and the gates is now a standby

It really doesn't matter what page you're on. If you recall the beloved lamptimer, it had a tendency to drift all over the place and resulted in some rather bizarre sign on and sign off times. So "drift" in or out of this thread as often as you like. And unlike some cancelled barbecue party, you don't even have to use your real name...or your fake name for that matter!
