Unlike most of the posters here, I actually know the person they seem to love casting aspersions at. She has a law degree, a tremendous track record of sales and management success and is well liked by the vast majority of her employees. Entercom's Boston stations in the aggregate continue to outperform a soft radio market financially.
She would probably be the first to tell you that WRKO needs to do better. She has moved the revenue up since she took over the station (even without counting Red Sox revenue), but until the programming gets consistently better, I suspect neither her nor Jason will be satisfied.
I've seen numerous posters throw vast left wing conspiracy theories out there, but they don't hold water. Entercom is a publicly traded company that is responsible to its shareholders. Boston is its biggest revenue stream. Entercom held their Board of Directors meeting in Boston a few weeks ago and the management team earned high praise. Does anyone really think that they would really sabotage a station in the interest of political ideology? If Julie, et. al. were such flaming liberals that they would, why do you suppose Julie proudly posts a picture of herself with Rush Limbaugh in her office? Why would Savage still be on the air? Why would they be so dead set on getting Howie back? I agree that their fall back position may be that Howie is better on the sidelines than on WTKK, but there is no doubt that their first choice is Howie in PM Drive. He is worth a lot of money to the station and he makes the more challenged areas on the schedule easier to sell.
