I don't see how.

When I lived near Wayne and - later - near Malvern, I never had an easy time picking up WJKS. It was always a dx catch that few (aside from radio geeks) would ever pay any attention to. And, they specifically serve the Wilmington market (rank #77) - not Philly (rank #8). So they would not have a case as far as infringement is concerned - not even close.
 
101.7 is a very weak to no signal in pennsauken. I can only pick it up in a few spots and 101.5 interferes with it.
 
It seems similar to Mix 95.7, which failed. Now 97.5 was a Hot AC, that failed too. Maybe the third time's a charm.

I think they should have stunted with Christmas music and launched on December 26. Steal some listeners from B101, and keep the My 106.1 listeners with Christmas music.

It could be unique and adopt a similar sound as the former Mix 102.7 in New York.

I don't know. What's up? They sound the same to me.

Now that Philly officially does not have a Rhythmic AC anymore, and if the new Mix has axed all their mixshows (the noon mix is gone, but we don't know about the weekend shows yet), I think they should just pull the plug on Ben and move the HD-2 format onto the main signal. I mean really, what do they have to lose?

I think music on 97.5 failed because it was a non-unique format, geared toward people listening in office buildings, on an inferior signal that has trouble penetrating office buildings. Those are going to fail. An inferior signal like 97.5 needs to have something you can't get on other stations that are easier to receive, and it needs to be geared toward people in cars. Their current format fits that description.

A station that goes straight ahead against B-101, on a full signal, would almost have to succeed, at least relatively.

IMO, 106.1 had a TSL problem, which, I think, resulted from an unfocused format that isn't clear enough to the listener about what the station plays. See, e.g., Ben-FM and WYSP. I'm not sure this format tweak is going to fix that. This listener interaction piece could make it worse.

I agree completely.

WISX failed because instead of being a focused Rhythmic AC (take KTU in NY as the best example) they continued to flirt with other formats such as classic hits and soft rock. From the very beginning they were throwing in the soft rock alongside all the fun, Rhythmic tracks. As a listener, it totally kills the vibe of the station and is a turn-off. That's why, even though they had decent cume, they could not get their TSL up at all.

Unfortunately, the failed WISX will probably keep anybody else from doing Rhythmic AC. Even though a KTU type station would probably do quite well in this market.
