A question about WKIX-FM 102.9-Oldies

Of course you did the imaging prod - Chuck you were the best!

Doug definitely assisted with things round the plant - he was one of the most supportive guys in the building. It was a great pleasure to chat with him about this and that. I am glad to see him in the market doing his thing!

Yes, it's really a shame that Dave couldn't continue with his vision at WTRG. His programming skills were legendary, and his on-air work superior. His supporting cast was top-notch, and listening every chance I had, I was truly amazed at the depth of his genius. How sad that things happen the way they do and had he remained there who knows what milestone numbers could've been generated. But time marches on and I'm very glad that Dave is happy at what he's doing. Kudos to Chuck for his excellent production too. Those were the days and as a former loyal listener, I salute them all.

Thank you DS!!! And public congrats on your new syndicated show, America's Greatest Hits (via Tony Griffin Productions) now airing on WLNK/Charlotte, yes? I remember when you had the idea. Great to see it off the ground and signing affiliates!

For what it's worth, I'm assisting music/imaging at Rubber City Radio's WAKR/1590 Akron (Alan Freed, Jack Paar, Charlie Greer all alums). 1958-1974... rockin' it old skool! WAKR PAMS series 26, licensed from PAMS/JAMS and Jeff Laurence as VO (used at WTRG 03-04. I believe Jeff is presently on Y102-9).

Thank you big Chuck! Also, can't let it go unsaid that I am seeing Chuck Matthews Voiceovers in the trades daily with a new station you are voicing. Sheez, you must be voicing 150 stations by now! I am glad one of them is one of mine...

TL - thank you so much for the compliments. I love to hear about someone who appreciated the work we did in Raleigh. And you are correct, Chuck's production is AMAZING! Don't worry bout nothin' I understand true oldies P1 passion. We're probably the most passionate group aren't we...lol

But rest assured, Doug will get 'er done in Raleigh. I am a believer. Keep listening and you will be too. :)

Happy holidays to all... be safe!!

Dave

Sounds like a retarded monkey with a set of darts is programming it. Geez what a musical disaster; "Because of You" by Tony Bennett into "Stayin' Alive" by the Bee Gees. Great flow!

A very mature comment if I ever heard one. ;)

Uh........Mr. Greensborg: I was referring to WKIX-AM......okay??? AM, AM, AM, AM.
102.9 sounds like someone who understands what's involved in tempo, moving up and down the years in music, etc., is at the FM and doing a VERY FINE JOB.........NOT at THE AM, AM, AM. Listen to the AM and tell me that musically what they're doing makes sense. Sounds to me like some drunk throwing coins in the jukebox and just hitting numbers. (I apologize to monkeys everywhere!) oh geez, now I'll have to apologize to the drunks!

Why is Tom Collins so MAD at WKIX AM/FM???? I think he is upset because he lost his Oldies station WTHZ-FM Majic 94.1. He was PRESIDENT and GENERAL MANAGER there, you may know....

TOM COLLINS AKA Wilbur Moss was NEVER and will NEVER be "President" of Davidson County Broadcasting. Why don't you check the FCC files, available on line before you spout off a stupid statement blike this? And I happen to know he doesn't give a "Hoot" about KIX or Blue Ridge Country

Well, Big Ape, I don`t disagree with you. But, he WAS sending out e-mails at one point in time on WTHZ-FM Majic 94.1 e-mail`s saying that he was the PRESIDENT of that station! It didn`t say Davidson County Broadcasting, but it did say Majic 94.1 President and GM. I appreciate you telling me the truth! By the way, he was STILL sending out e-mails from the Majic 94 server several months after he was fired (I still have some in my Inbox). Have a Merry Christmas Big Ape!

Legend,
I guess I did not read your response carefully. I am sorry for that and my comment.

Although, not being a radio professional, (just a hobby), I like the music on WKIX-AM. I have absolutely know idea how a station is programmed. I think KIX plays a nice "blend" (if that is the correct term) of music.

When it was Mix 106 in Charlotte doing the same thing, I said chimp.

And when it came time for me to get my own email address ...

I can tell you exactly where the playlist, and direction of KIX-AM comes from, and that is straight from the top.

Why are they playing Don Imus in the morning?? Does ANYBODY anywhere still want to hear the sunken sea barnacle known as Don Imus????

I had the privlidge of working with Doug about 15 years ago in Greenville and he was a quality guy who was well on his way to becoming a really good PD and when I listen to 102.9 I hear a station that obviously has a good leader and a quality staff and I hope those at Curtis realize what a good thing they have with Doug....Good radio people can be hard to find sometimes.....

;D Are you also related to Michael Vick!?

No but we could be twins..Its hard to tell us apart with exception I can throw a football farther than him and I ran a cat fighting operation....

Allen, I've heard your entourage is also bigger these days since Goodell (and the actual law, typically) is cracking down on Michael's. If this lockout goes for a while though, he might get his bigger again.

that is true.....I have dozens of personalities....They are my entourage and I never get lonely and my payroll is lower than Debby Boone's...
