I've been going through some of my radio airchecks the last couple of days to send copies to a friend of mine out of state. I found this hidden gem among all the cassette tapes...an aircheck of a Birmingham AM dial scan from 1995.
Some noteworthy clips from the recording:
The original WYDE (AM 850) with Ken Michaels and their short-lived "True Country" (classic country format)
The "T.C and John Ed Show" on WERC
WAPI during their pre-news/talk days as "Unforgettable Favorites" (Adult Standards)
AM 1260 (the current WYDE-AM) as WDJC
The original WAGG on 1320 before their move to AM 610
AM 1480 as WLPH (now WQOH)
Missing from the dial scan are most of the suburban AMs (WURL/Moody, WSMQ/Bessemer, and WGTT/Alabaster).
