A->Z, A->Z....

As mentioned Argy...it was just an example not a statement intended to insinuate that you didn't know the song (I actually have a working portable 8-track player at home). I do find one thing rather interesting though...underminer, another country heard from...when the conversation was going on Monday night many stations under many flags were mentioned when it came to impressive talent, imaging, format ect it wasn't a "Nassau" lovefest although it was the west coast representatives that were not impressed with the citadel family performance here in Portland...across the board not just blm. The only Nassau points they made were...WFNK reminded them of the JACK format but with personality, The Bone sounds great and would do very well on the west coast where there isn't a single station doing what they are doing musically and The Wolf sounds as tight and fresh as any country station in market #2. They also agreed that other talent on other stations with other companies could easily make the move to bigger markets as soon as tomorrow if the opportunity was there... The major issue we see with what is happening at One City Center can be seen within the binding common thread between one man and the vegetation that shares his name...both seem to grow, flourish, spread easily and then strangle the life out of all it comes in contact with when allowed to go unchecked. Perhaps you would know the name of a good gardener underminer...one that could come in and remove the weed? ::)

I think the issues right now in One City Center are such that Mr. Ivy isn't even remotely on anyone's radar screen in Las Vegas. Apparently currently advertising revenues are at, quote Near Disasterous Levels unquote. Despite your analysis and wishes, there are clearly other postions higher up on the pecking order that may be changed first.

adbuyer1....

I'm not privvy to the pecking order of personnel....at WBLM or any other radio station in the market.

However...it's really the listeners that pretty much determine how SUCCESSFUL ANY radio station is going to be. And that factor usually determines if there's enough advertiser support? ???

Perhaps it's time for some of Maine's radio stations to stop tredding on their past and seriously looking toward their future? At least when it comes to the audience demographic that they're looking for???

For those radio stations who are into the retro mode when they promote stuff that happened a few days earlier, try to remember that the average radio listener only cares about what's happening NOW....not last week, last month or last year. Call it short attention span if you want....but if a few listeners have a suggestion for a good programming format or a special idea....and it fits in with the tone of the music or talk shows....

What's wrong with giving them what they want? :-\
