It’s not about “ever.” It’s about now. Huge pending deal + someone they don’t like = extortion.has Sinclair ever had an issue with SNL or Colbert?

Maybe Jimmy and the network could have worked out only to do a 45 minute show during the debacle and give Nightline extra time? To me, it seems like those cable carriage disputes and they could fight back somehow. They could have. But---Nexstar and Sinclair have 68 ABC affilates between them---roughly 30 percent of ABC's clearances. They'd take a bath on spot rates and the show, if it's profitable, would likely not be, and if it's not profitable, it would be worse.
Plus---and we'll see how Disney ultimately decides (if Kimmel's gone, look for a news release as late as possible on Friday evening)---Disney and ABC have their own issues they need to deal with the current administration about.
Disney may make its money from the First Amendment, but don't think for a moment that it considers money to be secondary.

Kimmel is not stupid. He could fire off just the right lawsuit against everyone and blow this situation up.
I saw that, too, but didn't think it was the part that got him in trouble. Sorry. It's still on YouTube itself (cued to the pertinent part of the monologue):
I am looking back on what I wrote as a warning in February, and somehow it's now so much worse than I feared.

In this week’s issue… The FCC's dangerous new path - ABC's big NYC move - VT lawmaker buys stations -www.fybush.com
Remember this puts staff out of work to for Dicta----dear Mr. President Sir's demand. Kimmel has a contract so, if ABC has breached it, they're going to have to pay it out, and SAG/AFTRA issues. I'm not an entertainment lawyer, nor do I play one on TV, he might be able to work anywhere else immediately. I think there's going to be a whole lotta suing going on. This started with the Benny Johnson podcast, and apparently astroturfing ABC affiliates with phone calls. Johnson is claiming credit. They could have. But---Nexstar and Sinclair have 68 ABC affilates between them---roughly 30 percent of ABC's clearances. They'd take a bath on spot rates and the show, if it's profitable, would likely not be, and if it's not profitable, it would be worse.

What? That’s bizarre. The FCC didn’t make a threat to have him lose 25% of his slot. They wanted him gone.Maybe Jimmy and the network could have worked out only to do a 45 minute show during the debacle and give Nightline extra time? To me, it seems like those cable carriage disputes and they could fight back somehow.
If Nexstar and Sinclair wanted to exert more injury on ABC, they could pull GMA and/or World News Tonight groupwide in favor of their own internal programming (for Nexstar they could simulcast NewsNation or air CW fare), which would cancel either show outright. They could have. With his Netflix show starting the next dayAnd don't think for a moment he hasn't got a team of lawyers (not just his show's lawyers, but his personal attorneys) six feet up Disney's rear end with power tools right now.
The biggest possible win for Jimmy is that he gets to come back on air with an apology from Disney to him. The second biggest (and more likely) is an epic settlement for wrongful termination if they decide to keep him off the air.
Do any of you think any advertisers are going to boycott ABC/Disney/ESPN/etc.?
Their bigger issue is the actors union.Do any of you think any advertisers are going to boycott ABC/Disney/ESPN/etc.?
It doesn't freaking matter. The FCC nor the President is the comedy police. Try taking "he wasn't a MAGA he was a trans leftist" to court, especially against an administration that couldn't even indict a ham sandwichSo when the president lies it’s fine, when a talk show host does it it’s a federal crime?

Well with the spines we have seen since January, no.It's possible. They'd have to announce it. Disney's not gonna tell us.
They are what? They are right now.
