ABC Pulls Jimmy Kimmel Live

AOC:

And here's the thoughts on ABC/Kimmel

Goddamn it, David. We've had the quote in full several times.
And I paraphrased it because I wanted to show how it "sounded" to people like me.
Unless you're suggesting that all MAGA are militants, then no, that's not what Kimmel said.
Very obviously, he believes all MAGA are "the same". Whether he thinks they are militants, just crazy, or otherwise wrong was not said.

AOC: We should be clear about who Charlie Kirk was. A man who believed that the civil rights act that granted black Americans the right to vote was a mistake… His rhetoric and beliefs were ignorant, uneducated, and sought to disenfranchise millions of Americans.
Please cite a quote of Kirk saying any such thing.

News outlets should have said "Right wing extremist Charlie Kirk was killed..."

So, I finished my writing for the day, and decided to check back in. Let's review, beginning with the last thing I posted last night:

Since my last check-in this morning, this has shown up:

This is a textbook example of bad-faith arguing. Intellectual dishonesty. The guy who has, throughout this thread, denied that anything not attached to an on-the-record named quote matters is back to how it sounds and telling us what Kimmel "obviously" believes, even though it "was not said."

You guys are doing a fine job shooting down his bullshit, so I'm gonna leave you to it.

I was 23 years old when I first started reading about David Gleason in the trades. I was thrilled to be a part of the same online thing that he was 25-ish years ago. I've learned a lot about radio from what he's posted here. Yeah, a lot of it was radio in the southern hemisphere, but still.

The fact that we disagree politically isn't the point. It's how he disagrees. So, in the words of Groucho Marx in "Duck Soup":

And now, David's on my "ignore" list. (EDIT: Or he would be, but apparently you can't do that to a moderator. Either way, I'm done with this.)

And if he rode in on a horse...

Much like a host might present how something appears to them. Funny how that works.

Ok, and? It seems pretty straightforward you lump anyone who isn’t kissing the ring as a raging liberal.

Here is the petition that got KABC-TV targeted over the Jimmy Kimmel situation.

Also the one where Tegna Owned ABC affiliate KXTV somehow got shot over this I hope it has nothing to do with FCC Chairman Carr response to Jimmy Kimmel and The View.

Here is the petition that got KABC-TV targeted over the Jimmy Kimmel situation.

The complaint is against Jimmy Kimmel, and Jimmy Kimmel has no license with the FCC. This is a fake complaint.

The complaint sites a quote from Governor Cox, who also said the accused is "one of us."

“For 33 hours, I was praying that if this had to happen here that it wouldn't be one of us — that somebody drove from another state, somebody came from another country… Sadly, that prayer was not answered the way I hoped for… But it did happen here, and it was one of us,” he added.

The politics of the accused has nothing to do with this case. He was not accused of being a leftist, and if he was, being a leftist isn't against the law.

The complaint is irrelevant to the issue of public interest. Jimmy Kimmel spoke out against the killing, and the quote in the complaint has nothing to do with the crime. Just with how some people are reacting. Those people may be upset. But Kimmel is within his rights as a citizen.

Here's the thing: Jimmy Kimmel said what he said. Everyone points out he is a comedian (I agree). Now, my question is : What was the punch line? If no punch line, why was this even a part of the show?
I'm sorry that I missed this last night. The joke is predicated on irony --there is a twist at the end which is meant to invoke laughter.

The set- up is when Kimmel said, ‘’The Maga gang is desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk .... ‘’

And the punchline is ‘’as anything other than one of them, and doing everything they can to score political points from it. ‘’
